  • I just took a look at The 'Shroom's Sign Up page, and I noticed that Critic Corner is a bit low on staff. Should that be considered a point of concern?

I wouldn't call it something to be overly-concerned about. There's an ebb and flow to 'Shroom writers. It's been the way of things for a few years, and sometimes a team ends up with just a few writers for a spell. Plus, CC accepts one-off reviews, so it can end up with more sections than its writer list suggests.

That said, of course we'd be thrilled to see more writers join the team! (Anyone with opinions to share - on nearly anything, be it media, food, sports, any of it - go ahead and send an app or a one-off review in!)

And if you've got a suggestion for any of our teams that you think might encourage more writers to jump in, always feel free to pass that along!

Alright, thanks for clearing that up, Pito. If I do have any suggestions for any of The 'Shroom's teams that might encourage more writers to jump in, I'll definitely try to pass those along. :)
The past few weeks have done quite a number on my mental health, both because of internet drama and because of the heat wave of the past week. I really hope things will start looking up for me in the future, because this mental Hell is really taking a toll on me. 😞
Even though I was only there for about 20-25 minutes, I still really enjoyed myself at the Awards Ceremony. And even though I didn't win in any of the categories I was nominated in, I was still honored to have been nominated in two different categories for the Community Awards. The fact that the Awards Committee nominated me is a sign that my work for The 'Shroom and the Super Mario Wiki community as a whole is being appreciated, and that's what gives me new energy to continue writing for The 'Shroom in the next year that is to come. So for that, I would like to thank the Awards Committee. I hope everyone had a great Awards Ceremony, because I certainly did.
This past week has been quite hard on my mental health...I've had a lot more negative thoughts than positive ones, and I just haven't been feeling very well on an emotional level this past week...I hope things will start changing for the better soon, because I don't know how much more of this mental Hell I can take...
I likely won't be posting a Random question of the day today since I usually post my Random question of the day simultaneously with RPNation, but due to RPNation currently being down and likely not being fixed until the afternoon or evening in a certain American timezone, I won't be able to post my Random question of the day on RPNation. But don't worry or feel sad, for I will be making it up to you by asking TWO Random questions of the day tomorrow.

Don't forget that signups for Archie Sonic Mafia are still open, so if you're interested in joining, head over to the Strategy board, click Archie Sonic Mafia and sign up!
I wanna write a story, but I don't really have any inspiration to write. What do you guys like to do get inspiration for writing stories?

I personally find that letting some ideas sit idle and letting them percolate in the back of my mind while doing something else, like, say, taking a walk, works best. Instead of actively trying to come up with something, my thoughts will drift to a topic/project when I actually have a new idea, and I can start working on refining that idea, putting it into place. As I refine one idea, more tend to pop up, and I can often get good momentum going.

That's not an approach for everyone, though, and I also recommend just... casually throwing out ideas to friends. Have a back-and-forth exchange of ideas and idle thoughts. It'll get your own thoughts flowing.

Think about your favorite characters and plot points of all time and what you like about them for emotional inspiration, even if you decide to make your story entirely different from how those work that gives you a sense of the writer's shoes when they were creating something you consider seamlessly

have a character want to make a sandwich, they then want to take a car to go to the grocery store for the sandwich but it turns out one of their family members use the car to go to a concert, so they ended up calling their family member saying wtf man i want to make a sandwich and then they get into an argument of what kinds of sandwiches are the best.
One moment, I was in Vice City in 1984. But somehow, I've found myself sent forward in time to the Super Mario Boards in 2023. You'll be seeing me around for the month, I guess.
Happy New Year, Super Mario Boards! For the first month of 2023, I shall be taking on the role of one of my original characters, Phineas Povenmire the Eastern Sergal! Let's hope for peace and serenity to be bestowed on us in the upcoming year!
    Jingle Bells, Batman smells
    Robin laid an egg
    The Batmobile lost its wheel
    And Joker did ballet, hey

I'm gonna be a black nosed reindeer all month long!
I honestly can't wait for 2022 to be over already because of how horrible this year has been for me; My grandpa dying in January, going through creative frustrations throughout the entire year, moving out of my parents' house in June, having to deal with political banter left and right, the electricity, gas and water bills rising through the roof, and the list goes on. I'm really hoping that 2023 will turn things around for the better, but that's probably wishful thinking...
Man, I wish the Mafia forum would be more active, because it's been years since I last hosted a Mafia game and I really wanna try my hand at hosting another one.
I might not know a whole lot about Doctor Who, but because the show originally debuted on November 23, 1963 (Novemer 23 is my birthday) I'm making Doctor Who my theme for November.
Don't you just love that a close friend is going through troubles that they refuse to elaborate on and you're powerless to do anything to help them? Because that's what I'm dealing with it right now.
