Rogues in Rogueport 2: The Uprising - Mafia Game - Game Thread - Day 7 (MeLo)

Oh dear. This visit has already strayed from simplicity. This is quite concerning.

View attachment 61622Oh, my, it appears I forgot to introduce myself.

View attachment 61623I'm Herlock Sholmès... just a lowly private detective. I look forward to working with you all.

Shmalu Sniffer:
Herlock Sholmès see? Very..interesting, well it's nice to make your acquaintance sir, it seems as if you have quite the vast amount of knowledge about this sort of thing inspite of being a rookie, tell me have you had experience with this sort of predicament see?

"Hey, buddy, if you're looking for simple, why did you come to ROUGEPORT? Simple and Rougeport don't belong in the same sentence."

The blonde girl shrugs, a smirk plastered on her face.

"The way I see it, we're all stuck here now because of the murder. Nobody in or out. Oh well, it's not like a mafia's going to pick us off slowly, one by one, riiiiight?"

"Haha- what's with that look on your face, I'm KIDDING. Name's Yang, by the way. If we're gonna be stuck here for however long, we might as well get comfortable with each other, right?"

Knowledge is a simple matter, Mr. Sniffer. Anyone with a healthy interest in criminology has no doubt done the requisite research into such matters. Indeed, based on your own sense of style, I surmise you yourself are quite immersed in - dare I say, inspired by - tales of grand mysteries, including the very one that occurred here in this town many years ago. Of course, I would expect nothing less from a member of an investigation team made up of the best in the business.

face (17).png
I do hope I'll manage to keep up with your expectations, and not weigh down the investigation. I must admit, although I do my best to keep up with the industry, my true passion lies in the world of fiction.

Shmalu Sniffer:
Expectations and legends dont mean much to me when it comes to knowing a person Mr Sholmès, so dont worry about it see? But indeed by what I can smell off you *SNIFF* the smell of ink, tobacco and iodine, mix together like an enigma wrapped in confidence see, your a very unique individual indeed mr Sholmès.

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Yang. I am inclined to agree with your stance on comfort; we appear not to be going anyway except for the afterlife, potentially, so we should make friends.

You seem to have knowledge on "Rogueport" and its lack of simplicity; I hadn't had the chance to do my research on the settlement. Would you mind filling me in on what you had meant?

S-Stuck? You mean that we're all trapped here in Rogueport while there's a murderer on the loose…?

(gulp)

1771798761567.png

Well… whatever happens to us, at least we should try and bring them to justice. Yang, you said your name was, right? I get the feeling you've been in one or two of these situations before… got any tips on how to keep safe in times like these?

At daybreak, the investigators were surprised to learn that the plans for the day had changed. Instead of meeting them as scheduled at the offices of the Rogueport Restoration Committee, Goomberto informed them that he would meet them in the Town Square. A macabre discovery at the inn had forced him to reconsider his arrangements.

His intel had already made it clear beyond any doubt that this was an inside job. At the time of the murder, no one other than the investigators themselves had been present on the premises. This left little room for interpretation. Traitors were hiding among the Investigators. Faced with this issue at hand, Goomberto had no alternative but to enforce strict measures to resolve the matter.

However, an individual with other plans appeared in the sky, ready to sow chaos…

A small correction, Mr. Nose. As Sir Yux had stated, there are SOME of his disciples in our ranks. Ergo, multiple. Should these defecting individuals be greater in number than those against Yux's criminal activities, I fear we shall be swiftly rounded up and taken care of, to put it lightly.

That being said, we have no evidence to go off of for now. I advise we vote for no elimination if no information comes to light. I am not voting for now.

Well, that's a surprisingly small amount of information. Not even the name of the victim. I suppose all of us have our work cut out for us. If it's come to this...

Sholmès puts his hand on his head, as if thinking deeply about something. He then sighs, and lifts his head.

...well, it seems a shame to do this after building a rapport, but I didn't come to this town to make friends.

face (65).png
I'm afraid I have reason to cast suspicion on one Shmalu Sniffer. Although an active participant, I feel as though he may have something to hide. His sense of fashion and his name both point toward a case of a "copycat cop". While previous cases have shown there can sometimes be legitimate reasons to obfuscate your own identity, I would like to direct everyone's attention to the following:

face (60).png
A cryptic warning, which I simply cannot gloss over. If this is not a nose, what is it? There's only so many ways you can interpret this image, and yet it specifically defies the most obvious one. This, combined with the accused's penchant for "sniffing" everyone he meets, is cause of great concern for me. Therefore, I will be immediately placing a vote for him, so that he can explain himself.

Vote: Boo1268

The X-Nauts, huh? Not a fan of what I learned about these guys. And to learn that some of you may be a part of them, infiltrating our group?! Shameful!

While I can't pinpoint an exact person whom I think is a part of the X-Nauts at the moment, it would be best to do some digging… and I'm gonna start by interviewing somebody...

I'll start with Mr. Sniffer, what drew you to visit Rogueport? I, myself, wanted to take a deep dive into learning the mysteries of this place. Now, this isn't an accusation or a baseless claim just to get someone eliminated, I'm just conducting an interview. No need to worry about anything.

As concerns our fates, I have heard many words from the living above the clamor of the entosaiwe, but what of substance has come from those words? There is much idle talk of boxes and sightseeing. The being of a higher dimension has professed a course of action most respectable, though perhaps hasty.

TasseTalk.png: We do not know yet what esoteric powers suffuse this portdwelling. What augurs dwell among our ranks? There is no wisdom in their proclaiming their foreknowledge. But those who bear responsibility for granting the badge of a public orator, they must necessarily weigh their selection amongst their ilk.

What, you think this is some kind of game? Yeah, I should've known when I saw this bunch. 50/50 shot we're screwed from the start, I say.

Rubes wandering in having no idea what's going on... Some nose going around sniffing everyone like a creep... And now this guy trying to play rock paper scissors. That Restoration Committee's really got rocks for brains if this band of ragamuffins is the best they could come up with to save the day. And I've seen some unlikely motley crews pull out ahead, make no mistake.
