The 'Shroom / Re: The "Who Actually Reads My Section?" Thread
« on: January 20, 2019, 08:48:36 PM »
Even for Dear Anton I struggled to get questions sent to my inbox, and I often had to scrounge for them.  I did have a few regulars, but beyond that I would just barge into chat and be like "hey I'm doing [whatever theme] for [whatever month] someone ask me questions" and just lowkey bug people.  The 'Shroom is active and a big part of the community, but it's not something large enough for individual sections to be the primary focus of the rest of the community to participate in by their own volition and wake up one day with "hey I should send in responses for this call-to-action this one writer posted at the end of his bit", which absolutely isn't a problem, but sometimes gentle prodding is needed.
can confirm that basically every single vote mach speed mayhem got for its first two months and gets now is me kicking down people's doors and going "hey wanna vote in this?"

and i intend to keep the process going

speaking of if people read Interview, Touhou (Remix) Project, or Mach Speed Mayhem, thanks! you're cool

This is the repeated-vote post for February's section. Like this post if you want to repeat your previous vote.

You asked for him, and you got him - a section all about James McCloud!

The F-Zero James McCloud, that is.

Voting is now open for the February edition of Mach Speed Mayhem! This round of voting will end February 2nd.

Aaaand that's that! The 'Shroom Director Election is officially over, meaning your Director for this year is Raregold and your Sub-Director for this year is MsRetroGeek! Raregold will provide more info in a Directorial Address in tomorrow's issue.

There's only 26 and a half hours left to vote! If you want to help decide who runs the 'Shroom, do it now or wait an entire year!

And here's the link again for those who want it.

Election closes January 18, 2019, 07:00:00 PM!

We've asked a lot about your plans if you win. However, I'm curious: for both sides and both ticket members on each side, what are your plans going forward this year if you don't win?

I don't know if all the third-party characters can sustain their presence from game to game, because I felt that someone like Cloud doesn't have the same amount of references (only Final Fantasy VII is represented, not the whole of Final Fantasy), so if anything, if a character were to be cut from the next game, Cloud is the most likely one to be cut. On the other hand, third-party characters with a high degree of association with Nintendo are likely to stay, looking at Sonic and Mega Man.
cloud is so weird because final fantasy has a huge history with nintendo, what with the original six games + various spinoffs

and they just... don't acknowledge anything

Nominations for 'Shroom Director are now closed!

Therefore, the Raregold/MsRetroGeek and Hooded Pitohui/Fun With Despair tickets are the only ones that will be competing for 'Shroom Director.

The election will close in six days, specifically 144 hours from the time of this current post. Get your votes in before then!

The Marioverse / Re: Yoshi Switch game
« on: January 08, 2019, 11:58:28 PM »
We need a thread title update. It's been called "Yoshi Switch game" all this time. At least with Mario + Rabbids, a moderator had the initiative to update the thread title.

Thank you for reading.
there ya go

In your opinion, what are the three most beneficial changes to the 'Shroom past directors made over the course of the 'Shroom's eleven-year history? They don't have to be from different Directors or anything, and I'm not asking for a ranked list, just "this this and this".

it's a datamine that literally says "brave" and nothing more

nothing is confirmed until we see an announcement

all leaks are fake

my point is, don't be 100% dead sure it's DQ, especially since Square basically gave jack *bleep* for cloud

Handheld Gaming / Re: Should the 3DS die?

Are they still making 1st party games for 3ds? I figured Switch had already succeeded it as the next handheld
ports and remakes

that's about it

Handheld Gaming / Re: Should the 3DS die?
« on: January 06, 2019, 12:06:06 PM »
i mean it's been out for 7 years, that's longer than the time between the release of the wii and the wii u, and over twice as long as the time between the release of the gba and the ds, not saying it should or shouldn't but it can't have much longer at this point
yeah the 3DS has had one hell of a good run, and I think most series have already made the jump to Switch

i'd be okay with them winding down the 3DS to focus on Switch, espec. since with the size of the catalog there's a lot of good choices left on it

if we're talking recent, while i haven't played it yet, odyssey being a return to the 64/sunshine style, among my favorites of all time, has me very excited to get it once i trim down my game backlog

if we're talking past then i'm hella grateful that the mario series resulted in the existence of the mariowiki and the mario boards and the years i've spent here thanks to paper mario 2 and yoshi's island directing me to this forum

pm2/yi also directed me to my other main internet hangouts and are responsible for me knowing my best friend in the whole world so all in all i've had some pretty good times thanks to this series
