Rogues in Rogueport 2: The Uprising - Mafia Game - Game Thread - Night 6

"Aye, I'll say. The most useless Investigator o' the whole bunch 'ad the most useful ability o' them all. The irony be stunnin'. There be no use in dwellin' on that now, though. We gotta keep movin' ahead if we wanna get 'nother step ahead o' the spies Sir Yux dispatched out here in Rogueport."

Nothing. I want to hear literally zero secrets from you. Most people already trust you. Don't say anything more than you have to.

Before I say anything else, I want some host clarification. In some past games, if the person the Jailer is looking to protect is attempted on, the Jailer falls in their place. @Diamant, is this true of our current scenario?

"Yar, the innocents' numbers really be dwindlin' now, so it really be of importance that we manage ta unmask another one o' the enemies within t'day. B'fore I cast me votes as per the curse that silly demon put on Mr. Goomberto, I shall wait fer the remainin' investigators who survived the night ta give their ten cents."

: Granting assumptions of truth to the claims of the Violet-Eyed One (Coco) as well, two yet stand without the scrutiny of empowered eyes. Let us for now assume the simplest truth before considering the concealment of authority. Vote: Ninelevendo.

Not here, no.
The way the Jailkeeper worked here could essentially be described as a combo of Doctor + Roleblocker.

I'm going to give this one more attempt.

@Hot Chocolate we need you to talk. And we need you to talk now.

If you don't give us a claim soon of who you got results about the last two nights, I am going to push for your elimination today. If you're telling the truth, it will help us. If you're lying, the alignment cop can out you, and it will help us.

This whole joint-confirmed innocent thing with the moth feels too easy. I want to believe we have a streamlined setup to the end, but there's too much room for doubt. We need you to give us more info so we can actually make a choice.

And if you opt not to... Well, eliminating you would give us important intel anyway, and we can see when the card flips if we can believe your word.

Vote: Coco

Glitz Yoshi (Red).png
Glitz Yoshi: "Well, well, well. What do we have here? Something very interesting. Granted, there is a way to have one of Cloudwalker, Nine, or me to be innocent and Pito still be telling the truth and is innocent. And that way is for there being a godfather amongst those that have a check. But where do us three stand? If me and Cloudwalker are both traitors, why did I choose Hint Toad, a role cop that is very good role for the mafia to keep around, over Cloudwalker? Why did Nine vote for Hint Toad not once, but twice? Those are very important questions to be asked about for you guys. As for me, I know that I am innocent and the question I asked myself is whether or not Cloudwalker and Nine are both traitors? But in either case, it seems too good to be true."
Glitz Yoshi (Red).pngGlitz Yoshi: "Of course, the answer is clearly we should go after Pitohui just to see if he is a traitor, right? Except that he could still have the role but is a traitor and just lying about how it exactly works with it lynching an innocent. I'm sure that it would be balanced so that this protection would only work once. And while Pitohui is claiming to be hiding behind Flotzo, there is of course the possibility now that this could be a lie and Pitohui is hiding behind someone else. Why do I say this? Because Flotzo, an unconfirmed but is claiming Bulletproof who has said had a shot has been taken on them, might seem fine to let go and it would be better now than risk losing someone of great value later. And the true person that Pitohui is hiding behind in this hypothetical scenario would not know about it and would be lynch without saying any kind of information."
Glitz Yoshi (Red).pngGlitz Yoshi: "Now Pitohui could be lying altogether about the role so that we would think twice when lynching him. But in either case, while it is risky, I still say it is still better to do it now then later. Especially considering a vig would just shoot the person Pitohui is hiding behind if he is telling the truth about the role. And this shoot would be a blind shoot and could even hit themselves if the person who is the vig was chosen. Anyways. All those words are to say that I am doing the following. Vote: Hooded Pitohui."
Glitz Yoshi (Red).pngGlitz Yoshi: "As for my second vote, I am not placing it quite yet as I don't see a value at this time or where exactly to put it. Also, looks like Rose has placed a vote on Coco. There is no need to make a follow-up vote at this time. But I do also want to encourage Yang to talk."

Alright. I smell a rat. No pun intended.

Let's look at all these claims at face value. There's an alignment cop out there somewhere. This Yang girl also gets their results and knows who they are right off the bat, apparently. The moth's a hider and is able to clear anyone just by visiting them. That's a pretty potent set of investigative powers there. If we're assuming what they both say is true, then by now we got myself, Agent F, the nose, the crab, Yang herself, and Stingy all clear at a minimum, and I'd say arguably the moth by proxy. Yang's been silent for the last two nights of results, so in the town's best case scenario, the cop isn't any of them and also checked two folks who aren't part of that group. That means we could realistically have anywhere from 6-10 folks cleared right now. And in case you haven't been keeping up on your math... there's only 10 of us still alive.

See the problem? That's the whole field plausibly checked by the fifth day because we'd have three of us with some level of investigative power rolling around. Let me tell you a little story about the last time trouble came to this town - a talking goose was able to potentially clear three folks at once each night with his power, and worked with the beanpole of a cop to wipe the floor with that mafia pretty decisively. By my count, this wouldn't be much different. Call me crazy, but I have my reasons to doubt we'd get so lucky again. And yeah, we could have something like a godfather mucking up those results a bit, but while they can fool a cop, I don't think a hider dropping by would be so lucky, and that's where the majority of our clears are coming from right now.

And I don't think I need to remind you all that the scum obviously know who's with them and who's not. And if one of 'em makes a claim like this and flips later... heh heh, well, that's an easy way to toss suspicion onto whoever they "cleared".

Where I stand, Yang's lying through her teeth, whether she's scum or not. Could just as easily be a bluff by the real cop to try and keep the scum off her back, considering no one's directly countered her claims - or maybe the real cop's just smart enough not to fall for a cheap exposure tactic. Good on you, if that's the case. Can't say I trust what the moth is saying either under the current circumstances.

Glitz Yoshi: "Well, that second paragraph was working on the assumption of you being a traitor AND have a hider role. Note you could even now be lying about it now if this AND is true. Although now you will show more guilt if this hypothesis was true. It could very well be wrong. The first paragraph was on the assumption of you being innocent with the hider role. And I do allow for you to not be a traitor without the hider role."

With what has been said by Tasse, I find it concerning how unverifiable their claims are. While it could aid us with clearing the name of several innocents, this could very well be a cover up or a falsehood to throw us off the tracks of the real conspirators. By eliminating the bug, we could learn which is true, and with who we do have "cleared", we would be able to narrow down the list greatly.

And, while I may not be trusted by many, most of the accusations and antagonizing of I are from the bug. They seem to be pushing for my elimination more than the rest. Perhaps there is a motive for this? If I end up eliminated and my position is declared, I'd advise you all look into Tasse more.

For now, I shall Vote: Hooded Pitohui. Your statements lack of confirmation concern me, and this can let us find the truth we seek.

yo what up I heard its time for double voting whihc means its time for some duel weilding like the cool black swordsman from my favourite anime. also i guess i get to keep this hat now wich i totally found in a loot box btw

Mr. N
it seems like theirs been a lot of roleclaiming while I was out doing cool things irl so i want to make sonething clear here: roleclaiming right now does not help us. all it does is help the mafia by giving them more info. it does not help us vote out mafia at this point in the game

For instance, look at all the role claims so far; they could all very well be fakeclaims and do nothing to prove anyones innocence

Bulletproof? Mafia's kill failed because of roleblocking or the doctor, so one of the mafia decided to claim that they're bulletproof and were targeted.

Cop/"Person who gets cop results"? Just pick people and say that they're innocent. The only reason a cop would normally reveal themselves is if they've actually found mafia, which certainly hasn't happened here.

Hider? Same as above. Just pick people and say they're innocent. Maybe throw in some of your own mafia teammates for good measure.

Doctor? (or maybe bodyguard? would be a pretty lousy dr if they've never used the ability) - No way of knowing who they've actually targeted, revealing this doesn't help at all.

Revealing all of these just tells the mafia who to aim for: if they're trying to kill the cop for example, you've all just narrowed it down for them. There is a time and a place for roleclaiming, such as when you're about to be eliminated and really need people to not vote you off, or when it's a LyLo situation and there's no benefit to keeping secrets anymore. Needless to say, neither of those have been the case so far.

Mr. N
In terms of actual voting im gonna Vote: Cocoa and Vote: Pitohui.

Someone with cop results that doesn't seem interested in actually sharing said cop results before the phase is over doesn't seem particularly helpful, especially since it was revealed before anyone was actually found to be mafia. If we lynch them the cop should supposedly still be around anyway.

Likewise another "hey these people are innocent" claim isn't really doing it for me. Obvioulsy not going to sit back and let some noob tell me that im mafia either

Getting rid of either of these would at least confirm whether or not what they're saying is true, and if not… they'd be mafia anyway gg ez

: Your trust remains scarce. It is no mystery as to why. You are wise ones, versed in the doctrine of this portdwelling. Yet truth bends not in the winds of skepticism.

TasseTalkUpdated.png
: So easy would it be to reprove me, unmasking my claim were it untrue. A bold move it would be to claim such cowardice were it heretical falsehood.

TasseTalkUpdated.png
: But it is actions which rustle through the leaves, so consider. Were I peddling falsehoods, would I restore my vote to the near-silent Violet-Eyed One? It being apparent the Tribe of Rogue insisted on leaving an execution to chance, were my chief concern my own survival, I would not have lent support to her and kept larger the list of possible targets.

22 hours remain...

Day 5 ends .

"Argh, based on me observance on everythin' the majority o' the remainin' investigators 'ave brought ta the table, it seems that the moth (Pitohui) an' the Violet-Eyed Girl (Cosmic Cowboy) be our prime suspects fer this fifth day o' the investigation. Call me a sheep once again fer actin' upon the ideas o' the other investigators rather than me own, but I personally find this ta be the best course o' action ta take as the daylight begins ta fade an' the gray moonlight begins ta set in."
1000004154.jpg

"Ta make a long story short, me pair o' votes will be cast; Vote: Pitohui an' Vote: Cosmic Cowboy. While the moth 'as brought relatively provokin' food fer thought ta the table in the past days, they be startin' ta outlive their usefulness as the number o' investigators be startin' ta dwindle. The Violet-Eyed Girl, on the other 'and, 'asn't been all that involved with the investigation fer the most part, only beginnin' take make 'emselves 'eard when the revelation o' an alignment cop bein' present amongst the ranks o' the investigators, but otherwise still slinkin' back into the shadows. Based on that, their claims o' bein' in cahoots with the alignment cop be startin' ta sound like nothin' but flat-out lies."
1000004142.jpg

"Two prime suspects, both fer complete varyin' reasons, yet only one o' them can be sent ta the gallows by nightfall. Only time will tell as ta who shall fall victim ta the 'ammer o' justice."

I'm not around for most of today so quick out of rp thoughts

This is a really tricky scenario, because if only one of them is eliminated and was telling the truth, the other one could still be lying. It just decreases the likelihood

Pitohui going gives us more blatant information, so I was leaning that way yesterday. But ultimately he is still an active participant, and frankly I'd sooner knock someone who we've given multiple chances to speak and has given us nothing new to work with

If Coco really is the alignment cop, let this be a lesson to future cops that you should never make a play like that, and you should never keep quiet like this if you start getting sussed for your misplay

Keeping just one vote set so things are more definitive from me in one direction. I'm not toooooo miffed if Pitohui ends up being our target, but if he does flip inno keep an eye on who's responsible for pushing his vote over the edge

61570

Hmph. Wish this curse guy would keep his face out of our business, he's really complicating things. I don't see much point using both votes right now myself, just going to push everything in the same direction if I do. Unless I wanted to pivot towards the suit right now, which I really don't. We got bigger problems, by my account.

Vote: Cosmic Cowboy

Here's my thing. I still don't trust the moth, don't get me wrong. But Yang's almost definitely lying about something - can't say I've ever heard a claim that flimsy before - and worse, painfully silent. First of all, that's blatantly anti-town behavior if you've already publicly claimed to be getting the cop's checks and then don't bother sharing anything for two nights. Second, if we don't get back to whittling down the scum's numbers soon, we're going to be in a situation where everyone's voice counts. The worst thing we can have at that point is dead weight.

And honestly, wouldn't be a bit surprised if Yang just gets tossed out of here for non-participation at this point regardless, assuming she makes it through the day. So maybe we ought to get ahead of that and not risk losing someone outside our usual procedures.

If she flips scum, I'm willing to let the moth off the hook for now. If not? Well, I know where I'm looking next.

EDIT: Nevermind, forgot the moth's clearing her, so they'd have to be in cahoots. Forgive this old rat brain.

But I want to add that Tasse has only two innocents to hide behind if what Tasse is saying is true. And that kind of info would be enough to justify lynching an inactive voice so that we do have a plausible endgame. That is what I wanted to add to Chester's post. I am now using my second Vote: Cosmic Cowboy. You have four and a half hours to try and save yourself."

"Yar, I somehow doubt the Violet-Eyed Girl would bother tryin' ta save 'er own skin 'ere an' now. From the moment the 'ole investigation kicked off, 'er priorities 'ave been elsewhere, an' they are most definitely elsewhere now that she's close to bein' hung out ta dry, both figuratively an' literally. I'd be impressed if she went an' proved me wrong in these last few hours o' daylight she's got left, but me expectations o' puttin' effort into talkin' us outta givin' 'er a sailor's grave be pretty low."

With every person that gets removed, we get closer to the end...

Oh, right! The votes. My first one is for someone who's slipped under the radar, and my second one is for someone who seems to be lying.

Vote: Cosmic Cowboy

Vote: Yoshi the SSM

And now, to enjoy some of Ziggy's sweets!
