Why I don't like the Luigi fanbase

I understand I'll probably get a lot of hate, but I feel this needs to be said.

Why is there so many Luigi fanboys that basically hate Mario's guts? They say he hogs the spotlight, that Luigi is better than him, and that Mario treats him badly. It's almost like Mario's the one getting overshadowed now.

But I'm not trying to bash Luigi, I'm just sick of his fans treating Mario like the bad guy.

i dont hate mario i just think he's boring

he doesnt really feel like much of a character to be honest

plus ive liked luigi since like smb2.

They aren't really being serious, most of the time they are joking, some mean it, they just feel bad for Luigi.

i've never seen a luigi fanboy do this. ever. yes, i prefer luigi over mario. yes, i'm a luigi fangirl. but, i don't think mario's a bad guy and i don't hate mario. i think that mario's not hogging the spotlight because he's supposed to save the world in must about every game. the only thing i don't like are the miis taking over...
p.s. i don't hate you, i respect your opinion.

The only reason I prefer Luigi over Mario is because I play better as Luigi

Sometimes, Nintendo is cruel to Luigi, i.e. Super Mario 64 DS.

how was that cruel

luigi is like the best character to use and in most cases, IS BROKEN

I like Luigi more because he has more of a personality than Mario, so it's kind of hard to hate on him. I guess it's because it would be kind of hard to give Mario any character development when he is pretty much an embodiment of the player. I'm hoping the Year of Luigi will give Mario some breathing room to develop.

Because when you play as Luigi and talk to the toads, pretty much no one recognized him. One accused Mario was in disguise.

well toads aren't very important lmao

besides how he was in the actual game made up for it.

I don't believe you're a fangirl. You're just a fan.

true. but he/she did say fanboy :P and yes, i am a girl :)

Mario is a bland and boring character but I think the Year of Luigi is a bunch of glorified BS anyway

The Year of Luigi should be over, It's only made fun game series bad by making everything "Luigi" (But LM2 was good).

Kirby's anniversary was actually better than Mario's 25th one, because the latter was only a port of an old game.

What I like about Luigi is that the hardships he faces feel more meaningful than those of his brother. Or at least they do to me.

Where Mario is a heroic figure with no fears, Luigi is a coward who is riddled with them. To me it's just engaging on an emotional level to see a guy who is clearly scared out of his mind to push forward in spite of his fear. It requires a lot of strength to do that, which is why it's amazing to see someone actually pull it off. I like to root for a guy who's trying to overcome his weaknesses moreso than for a guy who just has no weaknesses.

If you try to think back, have you ever been in a situation where you were scared of something, yet you acted in spite of it because something valuable was at stake? Stood up to a bully on behalf of someone else maybe? Spoke up against a parent for something you believe in? Defended a work mate from unfair accusations from your boss? If you were, you might remember those situations when playing games like Luigi's Mansion, and Luigi's struggles might feel familiar to you.

To me, this is what makes Luigi a relatable character, and a guy I enjoy rooting for.

oho

but that makes Luigi also a flat character

I guess this is why people say Nintendo games are for kids? Because of all the flat characters?
