post any random Mario thought on your mind

ngl I'd be disappointed if Daisy DIDN'T use the calico design

The "sarasa" in Sarasaland means calico, after all. Calico textiles rather than cats, but details.
Hmm...Perhaps that's why mods for Daisy in 3D World make her a calico cat. (Yes, I did read that "calico" didn't mean the cat breed but it could have something to do with it)

They say every time Mario hits a block, he kills a toad. But who said the spell could be reverted and/or that them being stones doesn't mean they're already dead?

i don't think all the brick blocks on mario's path are toads. when people in fairy tales are cursed to become frogs, they don't turn into *all* frogs that exist on earth. i imagine it's the same with toads and bricks.

whether the curse reverses in toads' case when breaking the bricks they were turned into, IDK. What happens if you crush a frog prince...?

Ok, so we all know Mario's Time Machine sucks as a whole, but as far as its characters in it go, I can't really tell who sucks more in that game:

-Bowser for stealing Abraham Lincoln's spectacles, preventing him from issuing his emancipation proclamation, OR
-Abe Lincoln himself who basically goes "Oh dear, can't find my glasses. Guess black men will stay on the cotton fields."

Been playing SMW (GBA Version) recently while actually taking my time going through it and I think I finally see more of the appeal of the game. The world map and the little cutscenes with text after beating each castle really help it feel like a bigger adventure than what came before. Other 2D Mario games have big fancy world maps too I guess but the narration really makes it for me. "Mario and Luigi take down castle #number bringing an end to [Koopaling Here]'s reign of terror! But the journey only gets harder from here. Now they head off to the [adjective] [location]" they're all kinda like this and it's a small thing but it makes a sizable difference to me at least.

Hm, while I'm here: What do people think of the style of Super Mario All-Stars? It was reused for Advance and the 25th Anniversary, and really popular in Flash games and fansites (even us!), so it seemed synonymous with the 2D games throughout at least the 00s. But I have no idea what the general opinion on it is today. Is it considered nostalgic? archaic? timeless?

I've always found it amateurish even without the GBA and "fangame with awful physics" associations. The garish, oversized palettes and inconsistent, often pancakey shading ruin the legibility and stylization of the NES sprites. (That's not even touching on changes like SMB3's caves.) The audio jolts between muddy samples, harsh attacks, and strobing echo effects. Not a fan of the music arrangements either. But I have no idea how hot these takes are. Feels strange since this style was once so ubiquitous, and since the following NSMB style is so often picked apart.
