Thanks for that, many other Forums told me I have a funny English, rather than a good one.
And my native languages are Polish and Dutch.

Polish because my both parents are Polish, but I can talk and understand Polish only, not write it.
Dutch is because I'm born in The Netherlands, I always lived in The Netherlands, and at least I can write, speak, and understand it.
And yeah, what happens if you speak Polish to your family, and Dutch at school, at work, in the stores, at the restaurants, etc.?
 
@Yami--My native language is English :) I'm from America.
But I would've never guessed you had to learn English when you were older! I can read your stuff well! :D
 
Yeah, English is a language you need to learn at schools here, starting when you're 10 years old.
Even though, you'll still not learn the right accents and grammar (unless you do HAVO or VWO after the elementary school).
For this, I've been watching product reviews and unboxings on YouTube, and improved my English that way.
 
Yeah I hear English is one of the hardest languages to learn. But I learned in my Education classes that it's easier for students to learn a new language (other than their native lang.) when they are really young *Like toddler/preschool/Kindergarten ages*
 
That's true. I had a teacher once who spoke to his kids in Russian everyday until they were three. He says that they had some grammar problems in elementary school but now they can speak Russian and English fluently.
 
Oh wow! That's pretty cool though, I did a research paper on teaching foreign languages to younger children for one of my classes. I find that stuff fascinating.
 
Ehm, couldn't this thread be split up into a new thread about languages?
I mean, now we go way off.

I mean, this "How Old Are You?" thread still exists, while the posts about languages are going into a "Foreign Language" thread, for example.
