Mainly if you are having a troubles time in Melee, then this might be your place, I'll give you want the game considers good and what the game considers bad, I am a Yoshi/Bowser mains and Yoshi is The 10th to 9th best character and Bowser is the worst, I pick who i like and who I know there move set, and mainly you should pick.
1. Fox & Falco
2. Caption Falcon
3. Marth
4. Sheik
5. DK
6. Yoshi
EVREYONE but Yoshi is easy to master, you just got to get used to there move set and try combining and keep doing that almost every day but if your lazy AF like me then do like 3 or 4 times a week and I'll explain it for Yoshi it's complicated, he is hard to master because of his egg armor and his DJC (Double jump Cancel) and the only good player aka God with Yoshi is aMSa and he was the best Red Yoshi and do never pick Red Yoshi because Red Yoshi is aMSas Yoshi and nobody but him has picked Red Yoshi but anyway i would ad use to you not to wave dash beacuss it does make yoy move fast it just sucks and is hard to learn so if you do kbow how to way dash good for you and thats all

I use Ness in this game but last time I played it, it really felt like sloppy jank compared to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Ness in particular just feels awful to use and poorly balanced.
