Hello, all you readers of The 'Shroom and members of the Mario Wiki community! Our Awards ceremonies last Friday? Spectacular. They were an absolute delight, and you should, if you haven't yet, go and read the ceremonies and the chat party logs. Thank you for all the support you showed our writers and staff in the Community Awards, and for supporting The 'Shroom and the community as a whole by attending the Awards and engaging with them.

For those of you who have enjoyed Awards and those of you who need to go back and see them alike, however, I have good news. There's even more for you to enjoy, with issue 173 of The 'Shroom out today!

We're all resting up a little after the big celebrations, but there's still plenty of content in this issue for you to enjoy. Strategy Wing and Palette Swap have some brand-new sections, and you'll find everything from food and videogame reviews in Critic Corner to puzzles and games in Fun Stuff in our other teams, so don't overlook any part of this issue. There's the Spotlight, too, of course, shedding light on work on the wiki that needs attention.

Please, go and give it a read! Oh, and, please note that, due to the overlap with Awards and a confluence of other circumstances, we may add a few sections to this issue after release. This is a unique case, and it shouldn't be expected to happen regularly in the future, but, this month, we wanted to make sure we were prioritizing our writers over a deadline. Keep an eye on this space, and we'll be sure to let you know if any additional sections are added so you can check them out!

Now, go and enjoy the issue!

Oh, and, please note that, due to the overlap with Awards and a confluence of other circumstances, we may add a few sections to this issue after release.

One such addition is in! Make sure you don't miss Shoey's Word Search in Fun Stuff, if you're looking for even more games to play in this issue.

Perch promised MSM this month. It's still not there. Does he still have writer's block?

As noted, this month has had some unique circumstances that warranted extra allowances to our writers and staff. Mach Speed Mayhem is coming, and we'll be sure to make everyone aware when it's in. Have a little patience, and we'll make sure we get everything in we can this month.

Hello, all of you readers of The 'Shroom. We have a little update for you today regarding our plans for this year's remaining issues. We're always thinking about the best ways to create chances for the community to engage with the paper and for community members to engage with one another, and, as part of that, we're always evaluating the activities and specials that we offer.

The 'Shroomfest has been a fun, enjoyable event that has given community members a unique opportunity to all take part in an event that contributes to the paper and lets users who may not usually interact come together to talk and get creative. We've been very happy to see the participation we've seen in past events, and we're glad to have found a schedule that lets us make it a regular event.

However, we don't want to adhere to that schedule too rigidly, and, in doing so, miss opportunities to focus our efforts on other activities which can offer the community a chance to engage with the paper.

Right now, there are plenty of other activities going on that are giving or have given members of this community a chance to interact with each other and play together, from telephone-style drawing games, to the Awards Minecraft games, to mafia games, to roleplays and the awards tournaments that are wrapping up this month.

That, combined with our desire to focus on offering the best events we can in our milestone issue 175 and our special holiday issue 177, coming out in October and December, respectively, leads us to believe that it's in the best interest of the community and paper for us not to proceed with our September 'Shroomfest in issue 174. We want to direct our time and energy toward offering you some new experiences and big special issues to finish out this year, and we think there are plenty of other activities right now for members of the community to enjoy.

Don't despair, though! This is far from the end of 'Shroomfests as a whole. No, instead, we'll be using this change of pace as an opportunity to make December's 'Shroomfest even bigger and more interesting! We have some very special plans in place for it, and can't wait to share it with you at the end of the year. We do hope you'll participate in the final 'Shroomfest of 2021 when it comes around!

In the meanwhile, we'll be offering other new activities and our usual content, provided to us by our outstanding writers, including activities like our new Trick-or-Treating event for issue 175, which you can read about and sign up for right now! Please, go and give it a look, and look forward to everything else which will be coming up in these final four months of the year.
