What was the early 2000s like?

here or in general

there was water everywhere
mario was clean
everyone had their hair over one eye
bionicle
circles and shiny things were all the rage
facebook didn't exist, so we socially networked through castles on lego.com
you had to download fresh mp3s regularly
feminism had just been invented by legally blonde
bees
all keyboards were beige
there were more plants
kids did halo dances instead of fortnite dances
homestar runner
zoboomafoo

(Assuming this is 2000-2005)

I still have some of these. They were fun, and my neighbor in 2004 had like a whole box of them.
I had just started elementary school and now I feel old.
Grew up with Mario, LEGO, Thomas the Tank Engine, Blue's Clues, Pajama Sam, church, and all kinds of morals and lessons I still hold to this day.
I still actually kind of like Thomas the Tank Engine, specifically the wooden railway toys.
Constantly begging my parents to look up music and images from Mario games for some reason.
Kept somersaulting into things and touching things and just generally being an autistic dork.
I had a girlfriend in the 2001-03 period. She's still cool, though lives in another state now.
GameCube blew my mind.
NES blew my mind.
Dad wasn't home a lot because he was in the military, but was able to leave in 2004.
I don't remember at all what happened during 9/11, as in from my view point.
Got sick a lot because of rotting houses, rotting schools, evil teachers, and repeated medications that only made things worse.
I really liked the color red. Like, it was a central focus for everything for a year or so. Still like red, but not that much.
Internet wasn't a big thing, and that's probably for the best.
I tried to make my own Mario Encyclopedia. On paper. With color pencils.
I tried to make my own Mario games. On paper. With color pencils.
I had/have a lot of color pencils.
I'm still friends with some of the people I met in 2000-05.
Toy Story. Lots of Toy Story.
Matchbox and Hot Wheels. Lots of Matchbox and Hot Wheels.

I tried to make my own Mario games. On paper. With color pencils.
Omg same. Childhood friends and I made a Mario Party LARP at one point.

And although not paper/craft, using the magnificent abilities of the button-features and keyboard shortcuts for Powerpoint, I even made a Paper Wario videogame on my Win98 desktop. (it was awful, yet satisfying!)
