Fun facts

Fun Fact) Apple Inc. (then Apple Computer) was founded on April Fools Day.

Fun Fact) President Harrison so far has the shortest term of any president - he died of pneumonia only 32 days in office.

Fun Fact) President Tyler is the first Vice President to assume office when a sitting President died.

Many Native Americans do not use a $20 bill because it has the face of Andrew Jackson, who forcibly removed the Indians from their land and encouraged genocide of Native Americans harsh even by 19th century standards.

A delusional painter who believed he was King Richard III of England tried to assassinate Andrew Jackson because he thought Jackson owed him money. Both pistols amazingly misfired, and Jackson beat him with a cane.

In 1969, the Soviets told Nixon they were going to nuke China. Nixon said he would support the Chinese and the USSR didn't, saving millions of lives.

Out of the "stolen elections" where the next President won the electoral college but not the popular vote, all of the winners have been descended from other Presidents except one:
  • John Adams in 1824 was the son of John Adams. He would lose in a rematch to Andrew Jackson in 1828
  • Benjamin Harrison in 1888 was the grandson of William Henry Harrison. He would lose in a rematch to Grover Cleveland in 1892.
  • George W. Bush in 2000 was the son of George Bush. The only "election stealer" to be reelected in 2004 against John Kerry.
Rutherford B. Hayes defeated Samuel Tilden in 1876, widely regarded as the most fraudulent election in history, as the Republicans cheated in the electoral college as well. In return for ending Reconstruction and stop enforcing civil rights in the South, Hayes won the Presidency. He was so unpopular by the way he got elected that he didn't run again in 1880.

Pink is not their natural color. They are first white, but because of the food they consume, they become pink.

Fun Fact) Polk retired after a single term in office without seeking re-election, the first president to do so.

Fun Fact) President Fillmore was the last President of the Whig Party.
Fun Facts) Also the last candidate of the Whig Party (who endorsed the Know-Nothing Ticket), in 1856. Funny because they kicked him off the ticket in 1852.

Other nonconsecutive ex-Presidential runs:
Martin Van Buren also ran on the Free Soil ticket in 1848.
Grover Cleveland ran and won in 1892, the only President to have nonconsecutive terms. He had won the popular vote in 1888 however, but not the electoral college.

Fun Fact) Intense wiretapping of the White House was started by JFK, and continued by LBJ and Nixon, but only one of them got caught...
Fun Fact) Nixon proposed Universal Healthcare in 1974 but Ted Kennedy shot it down because Nixon was weakened by Watergate and he wanted to pass it under a Democratic President. Ted Kennedy and Jimmy Carter had a horrible relationship, and universal healthcare still does not exist in the United States.
