Mario Kart Mach Rider track?

With the addition of F-Zero locales such as Mute City into Mario Kart 8, I was wondering if any of you think that a Mach Rider track would work well either as a future downloadable track for Mario Kart 8, or perhaps in Mario Kart 9 if it's ever released?

For those of you that don't know, Mach Rider was an old NES game that is referenced many times in the Super Smash Bros. series (for example one of the hidden songs since Melee has been a medley of remixed tunes from that game). Here's some footage of the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJlKUFDFMu4

Here's how I would design such a track myself:
-Only bikes can be raced on it
-The "You are Mach Rider!" theme plays at the starting line instead of the normal fanfare
-A special "Mario Kart remix" of the Mach Rider level theme plays throughout the race
-The track itself would probably be fairly straightforward, with updated graphics from the old game. Boulders and oil barrels wipe you out if hit (like getting hit with a shell), oil slicks and puddles spin you out like Bananas. Instead of laps, it features checkpoints (like Mario Kart 8's MK64 Rainbow Road level)
-If you place 7th or lower, the Game Over jingle plays over your character's disappointed animation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_N7sL5XjiE)

What do you think? Could a Mach Rider themed bonus track fit in well with Mario Kart? Or would you rather see Nintendo stick more to the Mario universe instead?

Is it bad that I want a Mach Rider track only for the music?
