I swear, nothing brings me more joy than watching Bowser toss Antasma to the ground and reveal he'd been playing him like a fool the entire game.

I really hope they don't make him a fool again in the sequel.
 
That part made me cringe. If they wanted Bowser to be the main villain they could have made him the main villain from the get go. Playing with the feelings of the people excited about Antasma was not the right thing to do.
 
Nonsense. It was a good plot twist and Antasma wasn't all that good a villain anyhow.
 
That was the developer's fault. Sure Antasma wasn't portrayed right, but he could have been handled a lot better. I don't buy that "no potential" thing. They could have made him a bat possessed by the spirits of the deceased villains in the series, considering he shares traits with them, most noticeably the Dark Star.

Bowser just doesn't seem like the type of villain to pull a Dimentio like that. I know you hate Dimentio, but at least he hinted at his betrayal throughout the game and was developed as his own villain rather than an ally of Bleck.

I do like Bowser's portrayal in Dream Team for the most part but would it have been so hard to make him the main villain and Antasma a side villain? That way Antasma probably wouldn't have died and could have possibly gotten the Fawful treatment later, and Bowser would have had more chance to develop the way his character was intended in the first place.

Why do I get the feeling you like the twist only because it was in Bowser's favor anyway?
 
It's not really anyone's ''fault'' Antasma is a boring character. The villains in the series aren't complicated. Cackletta was a cackling witch who wanted to take over the world, Fawful was a mad scientist that talked in engrish who wanted to take over the world and Antasma is a bat that talks in Vs and wants to take over the world.

There is no potential because these characters will always be simplistic.

By the way, Dimentio's betrayal wasn't hinted at, it was made blatantly obvious.
 
Like I said, simplistic. Which is fine. Thats how I like my Mario stuff.
 
A minor thing I've wondered about is that Bowser finally refers to Mario's brother by name at the end of Dream Team, is it going to carry over in future sequels?
 
M&L is generally pretty good with continuity so yeah probably.
 
That is the one thing that makes me worry that there won't be a new M&L. They ended a running gag that had been going for the entire series.
