maybe we could have a mini mushroom? it allows drivers not to get squished by other racers, thwomps or vehicles ((moonview highway is )), but you can still get hit by items

ideally you get this around 6th-10th place ((5th-6th in the smaller rostered ones))

Or you could throw the mini mushroom at someone

Except I'm pretty sure quite a few of the karts already have a similar color to the metal, AND I remember in MK7 at least Metal Mario has a selectable metal kart. It might be in 8 too but I don't remember.

Best course of action: Cut Metal Mario and add the metal cap as an item.
