When they said "but there will be more Amiibos than just for Smash" they hyped it up like it was actually something I should be excited for. But really it was just amiibos based on the Mario platformers. Nothing to flip out over. Now if they included say, Fawful or Antasma then I would be excited.

Just saying my reaction to that announcement.

A Fawful or Antasma amiibo would require a Mario and Luigi game on Wii U that would have either one playable, which wouldn't make much sense.

That's quite the preemptive judgement, the only non-Smash Amiibo that has been revealed was Toad.

Assuming what they showed right now is all there will be already is rather silly.

No.

But there weren't any that WEREN'T from those games, unless they were from other franchises besides Mario.

hmm okay toad has appeared in many spinoffs, and isn't a platformer only character

No, it's really just Virtual Console for Wii games, with Wii Pro Controller support in the form of the GamePad. As far as I know, they leave the display resolution intact (a.k.a 405p).

Well, they're less accessible nowadays and they're apparently going to be very cheap to buy.

That said, it's silly how they're still ignoring the mass of great Gamecube games they could put on the VC.

We also have N64 games that you can't play on N64 in your way of seeing it so I don't see the difference.

With the 64 remakes, they add extra content, and you can't play 64 cartridges on a Wii U. But they're just selling a straight port of a Wii game, with the only difference being that since it's a Wii U game now, you won't be able to play it on the Wii.

This one makes sense considering the game is so rare, but Mario Galaxy 2 and Punch-Out!! are very common finds, and it would be easier just to get the Wii games, especially Punch-Out!! since it's a Nintendo Select and therefore incredibly cheap.

That's weird they're putting Wii games on the Virtual Console when Wii U can play physical copies of them.

Are there even any 64 or gamecube games?

They're making more important characters than RPG exclsuive 1 or two timer characters first.
