The Official Music Thread

That's just an alternative way of saying "no reason".

Shackler's Revenge is a pretty cool song.

Seriously. Axl is nothing without his original band members.

Yeah, but I still like that one song from that album.

Anyway, since this is the official music thread, here's some music:

Not that he's really anything special either. His voice was only good with GnR.

Yeah, his voice worked well with GnR. I can't really imagine "Sweet Child O' Mine" being as good as it was without Axl's vocals on it.

Same.

But, for some reason, I can picture Evanescence covering "November Rain" very well. o_O

It's probably the piano.

On the note of Evanescence covers, have you heard their cover of "Heart-Shaped Box"?

That is such a depressing song.

Of course; it was really damn good. I can't imagine that Nirvana is really an easy group to cover well. (Similar to the Beatles.)

Seriously; Amy Lee has such a fantastic voice, doesn't she? I always avoid singing along to Nirvana songs cuz of how damn difficult they are to sing. Cobain had that very unique voice on him that just couldn't be replicated with ease.

Hell yeah; her voice always relaxes me.

I used to not be able to sing Nirvana very well, but I've been practicing a lot lately, and I've been told that I can cover Kurt's singing style fairly well, even though I don't sound like him.

You can mimic Cobain's vocal style? I'm collaborating with you a lot in the future.

That'd be cool. :)

It would except our styles would probably be very different... Unless you're ALSO going to be playing indie rock, britpop and shoegaze.

I did a decent cover of Nirvana's Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, but I have an extremely long way to go before my vocal skills are even half as good as Kurt Cobain's.

Don't worry, almost everyone out there can't sing like Cobain could.

I plan to borrow largely from shoegaze.

That's good to know; Shoegaze is fucking awesome. I'll play it for two reasons; 1) It's simply amazing and we need more shoegaze acts, and 2) I don't want to write a lot of lyrics, and shoegaze doesn't place a lot of emphasis on lyrics.

Oh, and I'll also probably inject celtic music into indie rock and shoegaze for my style as well. Because everyone loves celtic music.

My goal is to be able to write/sing songs like these:
