The first Mario game I've played is SM64, but the first one I've owned is SMS.
SM64 was great. I've never played SMS though; is it any good?

It's nothing compared to SMG or SM64. Separately.
Glad I've never played it then. Smids, you may have just saved me from a $20 migraine.

SMS was okay, besides the stupid minigames.

Cause then you get a long and annoying game over sequence.
I remember the days when a game over meant more than just "press start to go back to exactly where you were almost as if you'd just lost a life".

Ah, the wonders of the "Continue?" option.

1. Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

2. Super Mario Land. If only Daisy wasn't in this game... :posh:

My first one? Mario Party 8 :P.

You realize that I'm reading this, right?

I played some of the very early ones like some Game and Watch ones and Donkey Kong. The first Mario game I owned was the first SMB on my clunky old NES, back at it´s time
