At the risk of sounding redundant, with the Baseball games' track record of huge rosters it would be a shame if no Mario & Luigi or Paper Mario characters were to appear.

No, it really wouldn't be.
 
Yes it would. Those subseries deserve to be acknowledged in spinoffs, and I can see why Mario Kart 8 didn't do it, but think about it, why have multiple colors of the same mook when you can have Fawful, Dimentio and Prince Peasley? Or any other characters from the subseries for that matter. They could even add Goomboss, who was already in a main title and Mario Kart.
 
Oh yeah.

Although I would love to see characters like Fawful and Parakarry in spinoffs, I just don't see it happening.
