Those hearts are clearly coming from Mario's side. The look on Peach's face says "Oh well this is kind of silly but I'm going to put up with it anyway".
 
The wiki says it's confirmed on NoE's Mario subpage, and so do other sites, but it only lists Mario games,

Oh boy I think Peach needs to get more stronger. I think she needs the NES Power Gloves and the Konami LaserScope to make her stronger.

So how does the NES Power Glove and Konami LaserScope do to make Peach stronger? Will it give her Power when she is confined? Will her using words work while the Konami LaserScope does a similar thing as in the AVGN videos?
