I've been noticing that in MK8 threads nobody mentions items a lot. I'm here to change that. This can be either returning items or new ones. I have a few ideas.

Ice Flower - Gets 5 shots. When it hits someone, they freeze and slide similar to how if you hit the Freezies in GCN Sherbet Land. Appears in 4-7th place.

Double Cherry - Makes 2 of you to race side by side. Items you get are duplicated. If one of the clones falls or gets hit by an item, it disappears. Appears in 4-11th place.

Metal Box - Briefly makes you invulnerable to items and obstacles. Weight is increased. You cannot spin out racers on touch and does not grant off-road immunity. Appears in 5-8th place.

For returning items, I'd like to see the Fake Item Box, Mega Mushroom, and Boo.
 
I want Triple Fake Items, Triple Bob-ombs, Ice Flower, and Cat Bell.

I want Boo, Fake Item, Mega Mushroom, and Lucky 7 back.

Lucky 7 was probably a one-off.

Triple Fake Items would be interesting, they could drag behind your back maybe?
What would the Cat Bell do?
I really don't think they would bring back Lucky 7, considering it was just a self-reference in MK7.
 
The Lucky 7 is an unbalanced piece of crap, and I don't think it will return.... unless Nintendo decides to add an 8-ball (like, billiards) or something.
 
I think this thread isn't necessary, as it can be discussed in the Mario Kart 8 thread. I do, however, hope that we get new items, because apparently, we're getting none this time. Maybe they just haven't been revealed yet? I hope so =/

As for returning items, I just want the Fake Item Box, the Mega Mushroom and Boo back. I never understood why they got rid of them. I have no idea about what new items we could get, but I think the Ice Flower could be interesting. Of course, you would spend only 3 seconds or less being frozen, otherwise it would be an unbalanced, broken piece of sh**.
 
Items are too unbalanced. We should remove them. In addition, too many tracks have hazards.
