Birdo's gender has been disputed, and really, I don't like thinking about it too much, but I thought this would make an interesting poll.

So for me anyway, I think Birdo's a girl. I mean, I don't think it makes sense that she/he/it/whatever would be a guy just by the way it looks. Plus, I've always referred to Yoshi as a guy (even though some claim he's a girl since he lays eggs and stuff).
 
I know that the Nintendo handbook stated that Birdo was a boy, and that if Yoshi and Birdo are dating then they must be gay, but think about one thing

Yoshi was never claimed to be a boy, so it might be that way around
 
In curent official canon, there are no clear genders between dinos. Maybe Birdo chooses to act like a girl even thouh she wasn't born as women or men naturally.
 
Birdo's gender is decided by the person viewing it.

I believe it's a guy because that's how it began, but they've made it pretty clear throughout its appearances that it could be either one.

Yoshi and Birdo might not even have genders for all we know.

Birdo is a girl. In Japan (and some translations), it's because she's trans, in English (and other translations), it's because they censored the original SMB2 trans story and now just say she's a girl. (Except Brawl, but only because the writers didn't do their research about gender identity and political correctness, so who cares about the dribble spewing out of their mouths.) Even the ambiguous dino sex argument doesn't change things: she still chooses to live as a girl, and that makes her a girl. The End. It's not up to the viewer: it's up to Birdo. It doesn't matter if she's a fictional character, it doesn't matter if you're just joking around - to say she's a boy or worse, an "it" -reducing her to a thing- is ignorant and offensive beyond belief.
