Pokemon X and Pokemon Y

well not many things resist normal either, and many normal types are insanely powerful, unlike offensive poison types.

Normal also has a pretty reliable strong move in the form of Return.

if that wasnt enough normal types usually get coverage moves too, so it really balances it out.

Plus some normals even get great abilities as well.

is more then what i could say for poison types.

Pure poison types perhaps, but aren't dual poison types praised? Crobat and Tentacruel come to mind.

crobat is kinda eh, since its only defense against rock and steel types are super fang, it has good resistances and all but its not good at all against those types.

Tentacruel i would never use its poison type move for anything ever, and tentacruel is mostly a supportive/special wall pokemon.

I guess you could use acid spray for shits and giggles though.

At least Poison types are super effective against something, which is more than what you can say for those poor normal types. Granted, having diverse move pools help, but I honestly pity them for being the only type that can't have STAB and super effective moves at the same time.

You can pretty much say the same thing to the Dragon-type, since it's only super-effective against itself. However, many Dragon-types tend to have high physical attack stats, making moves like Outrage heavy hitting, even without super-effective blows. And to add to this, only the Steel-type resists the Dragon-type, and only Shedinja is immune to the Dragon-type, all thanks to its Wonder Guard ability.

From what I recall, Toxicroak has the highest base attack of any Poison-type, but 106 is pretty lackluster when you compare it to Gengar's base 130 special attack stat.

There's also Tri Attack for Porygon-Z, since with Adaptability, the base power of Tri Attack becomes 160 when Porygon-Z uses it, making it hit harder than Return.

Sadly, there aren't very many powerful Normal-type special attacks out there. Hyper Voice may sound doable, but it hits multiple targets in the double and triple battles, making the attack deal 25% less damage than normal if more than one Pokemon is targeted. And of course, any Pokemon with the Soundproof ability will not be affected by Hyper Voice at all.

well toxicroak is more of a setup pokemon anyway, but yeah. Not that many powerful poison types, as poison is mostly a defensive type, not quite as good as steel, but it has its uses.

Crobat wins the COOLNESS FACTOR though. I mean seriously, those Zubat that have been irritating you all game finally evolve into this totally wicked four-winged deathbat of doom who doesn't have a stupidly huge mouth like Golbat.

well it is a decent poke, even with its only average attack stat and that other draw i mentioned.

one thing ive learned about crobat is that's an awesome stall breaker, also very effective at making fighting types cry.

Drapion is the coolest looking Poison-type to me.

okay gotta admit that drapion is pretty awesome, especially with swords dance. Not the best physical attacker ever, but it certainly gets the job done.

Well, I'm saying that most Pokemon can learn Return since it has very good distribution in the form of a TM, and it's a reliable normal type move.
