Is that actual voice acting from the game?
Yes, yes it is.

Or the number 7. That's used a lot in the Mario games.
And they often pair it up with stars.

Seven Star Road pieces, Seven Star Kids, Seven Star Spirits, etc.

Zelda: You always defeat the boss doing the same thing 3 times and then attacking with a sword.

First of all, TV Tropes. That website pretty much contains all you need to know about this.

Second...I think I've seen another top ten gaming cliche video, but now I can't find the link.

Protagonists being tricked into doing exactly what the Antagonists want.
That's not really a cliche.

PM2, MLPiT, SPM.

Well crap these are all Mario games. BUT I'M SURE IT'S COMMON IN OTHER GAMES[/beggingthequestion]
Also in Crash 2 and Rayman Origins
and Sonic 3

Game Freak's been using that one for years.

Random encounters? That is the subject of almost every single RPG game

Yeah, Square Enix still thinks that long, boring corridors with random encounters interspersed and a cutscene at the end is effective gameplay. Random encounters are still around.

I find time limits to be much worse than random encounters.

DK 64 went way overboard with time limits.
So did SMG2.
Nah, SMG2 didn't.

time limits in that game were easy.
Agreed.

Time limits are also quite common in 3D Sonic games as missions.

Not in Purple Coin Rainbow Roll. They aren't too bad in 3D Sonic games though.
