Just curious. Wasn't sure if I should just ask it in the United States Presidential Election, 2012 topic, or just start a new one... so I decided with the latter.

Sorry if I didn't include all the major political parties - inform me if I missed any please.

Anyways, which political party do you belong to/prefer? I'm a Republican.

Independents aren't really a "party" - that's the whole deal about being independent. You don't affiliate yourself with any particular party.

anyhow i'm one of those guys

Switched the name of it over to just "Independent" - thanks for telling me.

So, it's okay to have a political thread here "with a forum whose users' average age is 12" [quoted by another user, not me] but I can't have a thread about love and crushes or tattoos? Ok. Alright.

That's because you're not too particularly mature about things, as evident by the post I'm quoting now.

I don't identify with a political party so much as a political school of thought, in this case, extreme conservatism, with Edmund Burke's heavily influencing a lot of my political viewpoints.

I live in Britain, so I'm not any of those. I guess we belong to the Conservatives/Tories.

(Though secretly I support the Monster Raving Loony Party.)

I'm not much of a politics person. I think everything possible (especially anarchy) is defective.

I consider myself an Independent.

As for my political stances, I consider myself an economic conservative and a social libertarian, advocate a non-interventionist foreign policy, and am a constitutionalist. The parties that are closest to my stances are the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party (as well as various elements of the Reform Party).

Historically, the Democratic Party (Bourbon Democrats) and the Republican Party (Coolidge Republicans, Goldwater Republicans, Reagan Republicans) reflected my ideology pretty well, but the establishments of both parties have wildly strayed from the Constitution and positions of liberty.

So, it's okay when someone is mature? Ok, I think I got it. Thanks for the tip.

Politics are different from tattoos. Also I dont think there was ever anyone who said you couldnt have a topic about crushes, that was you who rageclosed that thread. Topics about tattoos on a forum for 12-15 year olds, when most states dont let you get a tattoo until you are 18, and a thread for political discussion, when most 12-15 year olds are learning about politics and junk in school, are entirely different.

And it's about the maturity of the participants. It is a dumb idea to talk tattoos with 12 year olds regardless of context. But it isnt a dumb idea to talk politics with 12-15 year olds, as long as it is approached in a mature manner.

Just sayin.

Also, on topic, I'm registered Democrat, but that's just so I can vote in primaries or whatever. I vote whoever I believe is right. So I guess you could call me other.

I'm a Tory supporter too, no that does not mean I'm fascist.

Green Party because SCIENCE!
you wouldn't be saying that if you lived in Australia. Our Green Party are borderline socialist.

I don't adhere to any party because I care only for which candidate seems the best to me, but considering Labour Party (basically controlled by Green Party at the moment) has fucked up so badly the last five or so years, I doubt I'll be voting for them next election.

I consider myself to be a lefty so I'm more inclined towards the Democrats.

Republican, as far as you can go right without being fanatical.

Which is about in the middle.

whoa whoa whoa

I thought you were the one who wanted that locked, and no one was really complaining about it as far as I could tell.
