I'd rather have 50 well thought out posts than 1500 all from Forum Games.

Oh, I reread it, and you're right. :PNerdy Guy said:He's stating how he feels about post counts. :P
In that case just make a rule against saying positive things about yourself.Nerdy Guy said:Actually, post counts are generally used as bragging rights (pretty much everywhere on the internet). Personally, I don't think they should count in forum games since someone could say "Look at the posts I've got!" when all they've been doing is just quickly posting numbers and other extremely short posts in Forum Games.
SMB said:I like quality posts just as much as the next person. That doesn't mean that the posts from the Forum Games board shouldn't count. Post count is nothing but a number. It doesn't hurt anyone.

I couldn't have said that any better. Per Uniju.Uniju said:Any option that doesn't matter should be left on default, not left on the most recent choice.
The posts really shouldn't have been turned off in the first place. Adding them to the post count does no harm, and it really doesn't matter if people try to boost their post counts to 1000. As I might have said before, it's like people trying to boost their edit count on the wiki by making a ton of pointless edits just to raise their count. It will bring them to no avail, and they won't get a big reward most of the time. The same should apply to the forums.Sheep Man said:Well, I do think Wayo makes a good point here, in that only people that don't care about post count would play the forum games.

Once again, if they continually go around and brag about their post counts, then they are just trolling people. Do to these trolls what you do to other trolls.Nerdy Guy said:Not everything people do revolves around getting rewards. They just want a reason to say their better than everyone. I personally agree with the forum games posts not counting.
That is very considerate of you.Nerdy Guy said:Though I don't really feel comfortable with letting every single post count, I guess we could give you what you want. I just need to wait for Stoob to say something.![]()
Not every bragger is an out right troll though. Pretty much brags atleast once. Though it's normally just minor bragging like "Yes! I've finally done it! I've beat all my friends to 1000!" It's not exactly trolling until it goes too far. The "Offical thread for people with [insert stats here]" threads are pretty much all minor bragging.SMB said:Once again, if they continually go around and brag about their post counts, then they are just trolling people. My point is that not all braggers are trolls. From earlier posts, the people who opposed making posts count in the Forum Games board made it sound like all bragging is wrong, and then they took a sharp turn and started saying that it isn't trolling. It's odd.Nerdy Guy said:*sigh* Not every bragger is an out right troll. I've bragged once when I first broke 1000, Garlic did, Ugo did, everyone pretty much does. Though it's normally just minor bragging like "Yes! I've finally done it! I've beat all my friends to 1000!" It's not exactly trolling until it goes too far. Hell, the "Offical thread for people with [insert stats here]" threads are pretty much all minor bragging.SMB said:Once again, if they continually go around and brag about their post counts, then they are just trolling people. ...Dammit, I don't even know where I stand on the issue anymore. :P
I have a bit of OCD and Autism, so the idea of someone having a large count with a bunch of tiny little posts pisses me off since I've been just doing normal posting. Not exactly sure why, but it does and I might have to retire to avoid raging all the time if all posts count.
I never really switched sides. I was making points. What I said above is my true opinion on things. I said that posts should count, but then people said that people would start bragging. When I said that if bragging is a bad thing, then it should be banned; the same people who said that posts shouldn't count because bragging could occur stated that there is nothing wrong with bragging. When I pressed the issue, everybody else's opinion kept on going back and forth between making bragging sound like a bad thing and an acceptable thing.Nerdy Guy said:er... okay. It looks like we both switched sides. :P
I guess we could just leave everything as is for now post count-wise.
It's okay. I guess I was getting a little heated myself, as well. :SNerdy Guy said:EDIT: I'm actually all mellowed out now. I'm fine with changing post counts now. I have a cold, so all that rage must've been caused by headaches from clogged sinuses. Sorry for yelling at you, SMB.
Alright.Nerdy Guy said:I don't really feel like debating over this anymore. It seems a little too trival now that my head has cleared. Besides, people can change their minds.
I really don't see the problem in one word posts as long as they aren't spam. I find it often that when there is a conversation going, and that someone has already said something that I wanted to, I can only say one word such as "Per."NG said:I don't like how rule 4 was removed though. Personally, we should've kept it or atleast editted it. I don't really like having to go through Recent Posts just to see stuff like "lol" or "per" all the time. It gets in my way when I'm checking to see if there's any problems.
Personally, I feel that a rule against useless posting would be good. Like if someone spams a topic when it's a serious topic, then it should not be allowed. However, if it's more lighthearted of a topic, then I think it's fine.Nerdy Guy said:I don't have a problem with your posts, and I actually want more of a rule against "useless posting" outside of Mindless Junk. I've recently seen people just saying stuff like "I thought that was funny XD" in serious threads instead of just giving their thoughts on the subject. Though there might be already a rule that covers that now that I think about it.
perSheep Man said:The last thing I want is to have one user that just posts to agree with the previous post or ":P" or "XD" or "lol" or "tl;dr" -ing in every thread.

Yes, it is subjectiveness. Personally, "Per" and things like that can actually express opinion, believe it or not!Uniju said:That's because stupidness, pointlessness and annoyingness are all subjective.
