Those pillars in the background

Hey guys, have any of you wondered what are those gigantic pillars in the background of the Slipsand Galaxy or do you ever questioned what is that background or structure of other galaxies of SMG2?

Well, for all galaxies in the game, I question their size and their being called "galaxies".

Who knows what those gigantic pillars in the background are supposed to be. They might be the Mario versions of the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula.
