I was just watching that 3DS video today, lol.

I hear it so often in Smash Bros., I memorize the lines:

And I just recently modded a few more lines so hypothetically he could do

If you can point to me some clips where it's reasonably high quality Luigi spoken lines it'll be my pleasure. I know there's some discussion with unscripted Mario and Luigi talk in Nintendo World and stuff, but they tend to be too phone-quality and not really acceptable as voice lines imo. But again, I haven't experimented with those, maybe the sound effects and the constant yelling from other characters will make it less noticeable.

Voice lines with ambient music behind is fine. It adds to the humor.

Edit: I just found a clip where Luigi's going "This week, I'm editor in chief of Inside Gamer. So, come on, join me in my adventures!"
Edit: Luigi also yells out "Mario Party 8" so that's another idea

ok ummmm.....what makes you feel there's a weird sense of irony that in Smash Bros.?

Mario doesn't talk, and Nintendo made it explicit that he shouldn't talk. See Paper Mario and the Mario platformers. This is also true in Smash Bros. where his only line, since Brawl, is just a "let's a go" when he enters a match.

But I modded Smash Bros. to make him constantly yammer about everything while the normally-talkative characters like Sonic, Fox, Pit, Palutena, Fire Emblem characters, and Bayonetta are comparatively silent compared to Mario. Mario simply won't shut up, as pretty much any move you do triggers those voices. A kick in the air? He'll talk about how much he likes being on the other end of a Bob-omb. Forward Smash? He introduces himself as Mario and wants you to make a pizza-pie together. A strong attack upward? He'll talk in a mocking Wario voice and tell you to have a rotten day. A jump? He cheers and says how much of a winner he is.

oh i see well umm i know if nintendo does this alot of fans will be complaining to them about this

People already found Bayonetta annoying enough. Bayonetta yells relatively a lot when he's knocked around. I find it fine myself. But if they can't handle Bayonetta in the base game, already I think they'll rather die when they try fighting my Mario.

I mean if you fight 7 Marios in the base game, you hear that second jump *constantly*, and that's without the talking mods!

yeah i agree with you there's no need for yelling when knocked out

well uh I made Mario scream in pain (electrocution from Super Mario Strikers) whenever he's launched.

Yeah, we made Corrin shriek like a banshee for most actions he does and receives. Different kinds of shrieking. Both male and female shrieking. 7 of them is such a fun headache.
