This thread deals with proposals. Both normal and talk page proposals. If there are new proposals, failed ones, passed ones, votes, etc.; if it's Proposal-related, post it here.

Since this is a collaboration thread, you can also announce on what you are planning to propose, ask for feedback, or see if anyone wants to co-author with you.

If there is anything I missed, just post and I'll add whatever needs to be added.

New year, new proposal of mine!

Why does the wiki have both regular proposals and talk page proposals? Some talk page proposals could be proposals and vice-versa. The only major difference between the two, excluding the archives and {{TPP}}, is the fact that editors without an account can comment, and that is a rather odd difference. Furthermore, the ToDoList template on the Main Page shows the amount of ongoing talk page proposals, completely excluding regular proposals. Additionally, the ToDoList is inaccurate if a single talk page has multiple talk page proposals at a given time. Personally, I would have talk page proposals removed, leaving MarioWiki:Proposals as the only page to post proposals.

Regular proposals are designed to be wide-ranging and affect the whole site, talk page proposals are localized to their article (and possibly related articles). Stuff like rewrite policies, changing up various templates, general article formatting goes on MarioWiki:Proposals, stuff to split Cheep Cheep and Cheap Cheap from each other are talk page proposals. The reason there is a protection difference begin with was because MarioWiki:Proposals was targeted by IP vandals and the rationale is that only logged in users can vote anyway, but I think right now is fine to lift the protection as IPs should be able to comment if they are able to comment in Talk Page Proposals.

No, removing talk page proposals is not a good idea. We don't need to further clutter MarioWiki:Proposals for matters that are localized to single subjects.

The To Do List in general is extremely sloppily implemented so I have no comment for that.

Most general article formatting proposals can also go onto MarioWiki talk:Manual Of Style and MarioWiki talk:Article naming, depending on what the proposal is changing.

I would not say that MarioWiki:Proposals is cluttered. There are only a few proposals at any given time, and currently, there is only one. Some non–talk page proposals, such as the one to move the articles on the Wonder forms of the Kooplings, only concern a limited scope of subjects.

They could go on there, but that doesn't mean they're better off there. Editors shouldn't have to go through a bunch of links to read proposals, plus archiving and sorting through proposals would be more difficult if they were all tucked away in talk pages. Don't fix what isn't broken.
