Odyssey Investigations: AEAEA - Chapter 2, Part 2 - The Case of the Lesser Key of Solomon DeMorge

Does the food in the incinerator resemble cakes? Is there anything particularly notable about any of the incinerated items (food, documents, clothes), based on what is visible of them - and, in the food's case, is there any black residue inside?

You examine the food remains in more detail.

It seems unrecyclable or compostable food waste goes here to be burned in batches, while the rest is left to one side. Some of the imperfect batches from Storm's Brewing are here, unburned, on a trolley from the kitchen. You recall many people grabbing these individual cakes, roughly the size of ones hand, with syrupy decor during Storm's Brewing. Some of the burned remains are from the recently squished cake display Cassia intended to show in the morning, before a fuzzy devastated it, and the ashes are cold. An individual cake sits burned to near ash in one of the incinerator chambers, much warmer than the others, but the machine is unpowered. It's all turned to black. You assume its been burned recently. The ash within is also somewhat different. Someone with fire knowledge might be able to count it.

The documents appear to be confidential information of a kind relating to AE's network of pipes. You also note the ash is... different, but matches the same as the cake in the window, black.

I suppose we could try showing that feather to Moh. Does he know much about the Nokhmathian falcon, or why one would be here? Is the red glow on the feather normal?
Moh remains silent on the matter of why, or the glow, but points out that the feather appears to have been lightly dyed to make up part of a garment.

Kane confirms its a funny trick, using a mixture of regular ash and Telluric ash to make it seem natural, but yes, the documents and cake were burned by magic fire.
