Awards Killing Game 2x2: Moon of Hope (Game Thread) - Grand Finale: Shoot The Moon

Is there any paint, water, etc. in the Round House? Anything under darklight?

Did Miss Mona see a pumpkin in there any of the times she passed through it?
Mona recalls seeing a pumpkin at one point in the Round House. It was after her fight with Lee.

Are the splashes of water in the Hydro Generators disturbed as if something was dragged through them?

Where exactly are the paint marks in there and the Pit Mine? Do they form anything resembling a trail?
Both marks are near the doors. Neither resembles what you have described, more like the paint was lightly splattered.

Check if there is a wheelbarrow by Cargo Lift.
There is! Pumpkins are in it.

Likewise, as with what Mister Lash is doing for the Hydro Generators, I'd like for Fascia and I to examine the water puddles in the Sewer. Especially the one that Miss Lyra claims to have been bleeding out in.

It's shitwater

Theres a few puddles around the sewer, but most of it was dried up during the Crisp Rat incident. One of them has concentrated amounts of blood.

Is there anything amiss in the Maintenance Hub, especially under darklight?

Check under the pumpkins in the wheelbarrow and also examine the wheels themselves. Is there anything like whiskey on them, or soot from the coatroom?

You find... a pumpkin!

Water has been splashed around the room. There's a few more items missing now, mostly firestarter tools. Nothing in particular glows under darklight.

Nothing of the sort. They are pumpkiny. The wheelbarrow looks roomy enough to carry as many pumpkins as one needs up to like 12 or something.

Do any of the various documents and papers owned by the players we room/inventory checked mention the Coatroom Door anomaly?

Are there any minecarts currently on the hallway tracks?

You cannot determine this completely, but none of the ones presented mentioned it.

Only one, towards the hallway on the Topaz wing side.

Is there anything more we can discern about the pushed-in Cellar barrels?

And, what might be in the hallway minecart on the Topaz wing side?

What is the color of the lightly splattered paint across the basement rooms?

Lastly... hm. I'm trying to think. The Cellar eastern door - does it appear as if it was propped open or otherwise different from the other doors?

Something likely collided with them.

Nothing is in the hallway minecart. Mona chimes in and mentions its how she got around to the Dark Lab and other Topaz rooms as a Wraith.

The paint is gold and black.

The cellar door isnt closing because the minecart is in front of it.

What is the status of the Golden Katana on the roof?

Can Mister Vigil discern anything from the amount of items we've gathered from Mister Lee, or will he still need a body in particular?

If someone were to be forcibly teleported to an invalid location in the paranormal dimension while carrying something, would that object follow wherever they end up, remain in place, or teleport normally? Does the safety chick mind if we test this by sending her through the pixelator to the cliffside while she holds a bottle or something?

Check the Crystal Quarry, Sewer, and the whole hallway adjacent to the Emerald Wing for dropped items that might've been thrown here if someone was forcibly sent to the paranormal dimension from the Cellar. Also check the Foyer, Archives, and Clock Tower upstairs.

It seems the paints been flicked off in places as part of being used while the paint was still wet. The wielder is nowhere to be found.

Vigil puffs his cigar. No body, no autospy. Simple as

Mona looks a little frightened, but obliges when you mention using the camera method instead of throwing her into the void. You ask her to act as a body for this (in order to officially use her bond power).

When she teleports, as she did yesterday, anything she's holding remains behind while her spirit is sent elsewhere. In this case, it manifests Under The Ice, but she speculates based on what she's seen now... if someone were sent into the Paranormal Dimension out of bounds without a destination in mind, their body would go, but their items would remain. As for where the body goes...
Well. It seems it's not coming back.

You recover no such items. In the Foyer, Archives, and Clock Tower on 1F, you find that someone has taken a few documents, and someone has cracked the safe officially. There's still scuffed darklight paint in the foyer. There's a small blue spirit ball in each of the rooms you check.

If it's okay with Fascia - did anyone dispose of anything in the Crystal Quarry, or is there a spirit ball there?

Likewise, check the Quarry Pit and Dark Lab.

You examine the Crystal Quarry again for any discarded items. Besides a white bedsheet, not much else.

You examine the Dark Lab. The Portrificationiser is flashing an error message. Someone has jammed a portrait in it. A few other things around the room have been disturbed, but you may need to be specific.

You examine the Quarry Pit. A lone pumpkin is here, though this ones been jabbed. It's near the edge of the Pit. Looking down...

You spy a bunch of items at the bottom. Some of them sparkle gold.

Ah, please, the items in the pit... if you would, ferry them up, please...

Ah, please, the items in the pit... if you would, ferry them up, please...
You ask Tanner to recover the items, which he does excitedly. There appears to be a hastily painted set of samurai armor, some cans of spray paint, a set of rocket boosters and a backpack with a radio, some firestarters and wood dust, some glass shards, a partially digested mass of green plant matter, and some other miscellaneous weapons, and a bedsheet with paint and dirt all over it.

Also take a look at that pumpkin in the Quarry Pit. Jabbed how?
Seems someone has stabbed it with a sharp object. Poor thing.

With a cackle, King Blocky Boo slams down his portrait on the old Koopa. Ghouligrab tumbles into the void, and lands... on stage. He stands up, looking around at his papers, at the location... My gosh, he's finally here! The Lloyd Institute of Paranormal Research, that legendary institution he'd always wanted to talk at! Brushing himself off, Ghouligrab loudly begins to give his speech. At last! His theories will be respected!

Or so he believes at first. Slowly, the crowd's reaction becomes apparent. It's heckling and mocking, laughter everywhere. Ghouligrab angrily tries to force his theories through, but he can't seem to get through the crowd at all. They refuse to take him seriously! He looks closer, and sees the culprit. Sitting in the front row and leading them in their heckling is Dr. Lyra Orpheus, who continues to point and laugh at him. "Look, everyone! He thinks he matters! HAHAHAHAHAH!" Lyra nearly doubles over laughing, and Ghouligrab can't take it anymore.

Leaping off the stage, Ghouligrab runs towards Lyra, only to be accosted by the paparazzi. For some reason, they're all using darklight bulbs, but with strobulb functionality. The flashes continue to shine in Ghouligrab's face, snapping and pushing him back. He's blinded enough that he can't see that he's stumbling away, as he collapses into a minecart, running down a shaft he can't be sure was there or not. In the basement, Ghouligrab sits up, flopping onto the floor.

When he does, he notices there's a whole lot of spray paint cans lying around. Cans that are all currently far too hot, considering he's in the Cinder Mine. Stumbling to his feet, Ghouligrab tries to run, only for his back to seize up for a second. That's all the cans need to go off, exploding and bombarding him with can shrapnel that he can't survive.

In reality, Ghouligrab simply collapses, his soul sealed into the portrait.

When you signed up to become a paranormal investigator, you thought it'd be a lot more exciting than this. You pictured yourself running through high-pitched ghost chases and blasting them with powerful technology, not sitting next to a TV blaring nothing but static at midnight, or a radio for five hours and getting maybe one spooky word. Heck, before receiving this invite you were about to hang up your boots. But this place?

This is the real deal. As is the new Gaddget you've gotten your hands on. Now you're finally living the paranormal investigator dreams you always wanted to make real, and nothing can escape your Gaddget's gaze. The more you look at the dark-light and the way it reveals anything you seek, the more one more question comes to mind.

Just what else can you do?

Abilities - Ultimate Dark Wavelengths:
  • Your Gaddget is the only infinitely powered dark-flashlight in the game. It physically manifests, taking the form of a flashlight attached to a backpack you can wear. It has longer range than a normal flashlight, and you can use this dark-flashlight without worry of it running out of charge.
  • You can also recharge any dark-light bulb by shining your light on it, which should assist other players with hunting for the paranormal.
  • Along with your Gaddget, you possess a gut feeling for knowing if there's ghostly interference afoot. After a day of deliberation, your otherworldly senses will kick in, and inform you if there's weird rolepower shenanigans affecting one aspect of the case in some way. The specific form this takes will not grant you any details of the powers at play, just a hunch for one of either the time of death, the method of death, or the location of death.
  • While investigating and uncovering the unseen and ghostly is your experimental mission... there exists a hidden power within your Gaddget's scope. Once per game, you can reverse-charge your Gaddget to make a player's lifeless, formerly spiritholding body... vanish entirely. This will result in a special case where no autopsy report can be conducted, and the body will never be found. For real, this time.
  • There will be no body to examine or perform autopsies with. Players will be informed of this when the case begins.
  • Players will be able to roughly locate where the player died by using dark-light technology themselves to find small spirit balls hovering around. These spirit balls will roam around the map sector the body was vanished in, but not its exact room, leaving the rest of the case up to the evidence, player sightings, and timing.
    • There will always be One spirit ball floating around the room the player was killed in, even if the body was in another sector and moved.
  • Triggering this power requires you having a hand in the death of the person's body, either as the killer or an accomplice.
  • Only the body will vanish. Anything extra the player was carrying, or wearing on top of their usual appearance will be left behind. It might be in your best interest to dispose of these items.
  • To vanish a body, you need a few minutes of time to have your light charge to reach full reverse polarity. Once it does, your torch will emit a blinding flash of white light noticeable to other players in the same map area. This light will engulf the body and zap it into non-existence instantly. Your Dark-light will fail to work for the rest of the night, but will be functional again the next day.
  • Lastly, as part of your interests, you've been authorized to view one page of the Paranormal Test Subject Register. This mysterious document contains details about Ghost Powers possessed by other test subjects. You may choose the page you start with on Night 1, and the others will be scattered around the complex for discovery.
  • Ghostly interactions:
    • A vanished body will not appear in any form on the map beyond the scattered spirit balls you created. Use this special kill to your advantage.
    • Beyond that, you can use your Darklight to view ghosts, invisible objects, and all kinds of mysterious things. Its effectiveness in the Paranormal Dimension is a bit diminished, as all players have darklightvision in the Paranormal Dimension.
  • Weaknesses: You, and anyone else with eyes in the room when the body vanishes, will need to take precaution to avoid being temporarily blinded by the light.
  • Forbidden Action: If your darklight bulb is smashed, then it's permanently lights out for you. It has good resistance, but can be weakened substantially by exposure to any of the elements for a long period of time.

For Case 5- Triple Vanishing Act, you were...

Correct!!

CASE 5 - END

The Twilight Phase is open. You have ?? hours to investigate lore.

Someone is coming...

It's no lie I used to dabble in the wrestling arts, so while this place creaks and cracks ominously, and that old fool is no longer with us, I'll give you the rundown on how those RePossessors got away before we move on. Right away, I decided to tune in and spectate what those RePossessors were up to. I eavesdropped on their conversations a few times, so I knew they had plans to just flee to the roof and camp out as soon as possible...

[Part 1 of 3]
But, that's not what happened, gahaha! Coral readies herself with a shotgun and the coat she stole, giving her a bit of an evasive boost. All the meanwhile, the guy calling himself Luke Atmey loaded himself up by summoning one of my buddies, arming himself with a golden boomerang that looked uncannily like the yellow thing growing out of his head, while Rahliman emerged from the Tomb holding its twin.

Coral Versus MCD, Round 1

"Well well well. If it isn't Coral Grass-es."

Almost immediately after exiting her dorms, Coral confronts one of her... unexpected opponents of the night. The podcast king, and posh Cyndaquil himself, MCD. I'm not sure how serious he was about stopping them, but Coral fires a warning shot with her gun that startles awake a bunch of other numpties in the Old Bedrooms, who scatter like Rodentrouble minions when they see what's going down.

Well, what was going down was the tea. MCD starts generously sharing his tea with Coral, by pouring an endless amount onto the floor of the hallway, causing it to flood. Coral herself attempts to push past using her coat-of-arms, but unfortunately, since she's not sure whether MCD is going to actually attack her or not, she tries to hurry past, and MCD sticks the back of his axe out to trip her, then clonk her on the head. Her ARMISTICE activates, causing her to cartwheel onto the floor, but since it's slippery from the endless tea, she gets knocked out by MCDs sheer aura. Perfect... he now has a suitable podcast guest for the night.

Atmey Versus Thanos, Round 1

Right upstairs in the Nautical Exhibit, Atmey's hoping to arm himself further for the night, having gone through several sets of weapons fighting off all of those demonic spirits he's been summoning. Vigil man, you should have hired this guy, he's a natural born hunter. Collecting bottles for some of those Fire Elementals, he smashes the rest to stop any Chaolan-like copycats doing the same, and presses onwards, but unfortunately...

Thanos is waiting patiently, watching this whole bottle smashing affair. Having grabbed a golden set of armor for himself, and found a new "horn" in the form of a conch shell... he attempts to show diplomacy, of all things. Boring! Get to the fighting already.
He asks where Atmey and Coral will go, so that he can follow and assist them with their escape. Knowing how underhanded this guy fights, he's probably trying to betray them later, and Atmey is having none of it. Of the two's contingency plans, Thanos was right up there with a big "DO NOT TRUST, ATTACK ON SIGHT". So, Atmey launches into action, striking Thanos' arm with his golden boomerang.. and knocking his new conch into the wall, shattering it to mother-of-pearl pieces.

Visibly pissed, Thanos maintains calm. He insists again on trying to help, to which Atmey responds "Tch, fat chance, big guy. The helicopter's not here till the middle of the night, and we're camping on the roof. I mean, take this!"

Launching into a flurry of barefist strikes, Atmey attempts to knock Thanos out, but his punches do nothing. They bounce off the giant with nary so much as a bruise. In Thanos' chestplate, the shard of Stamina glows brightly. It keeps him from being knocked out in any way, unless he allows it. Atmey starts to wear himself out... and Thanos shows mercy. He still wants to convince them he's on their side. Atmey can't win, so panting and nearly out of breath, he flees.

Lash enters and grabs a pirate hat. Awesome fit man.

MEANWHILE...

Atmey Versus Thanos, Round 2

Atmey sprints into the Parlor followed closely after by Thanos, who is still trying to reason with the guy. Atmey leaps over the couch and dives for the fireplace where the Fire Elementals are crackling, now in full view of the podcast audience.

"Well well well. If it isn't Fluke Atmey", sneers MCD. Coral snores, completely knocked out in the lounge chair opposite. It seems they've been doing an ASMR podcast.

Realizing his compatriot is incapacitated right nearby, Atmey tosses one of his bottles at Thanos, who parries it with a wristguard, straight into the podcast setup. MCD rushes to salvage the two microphones as the Parlor table bursts into elemental flames, while Atmey gives Coral a wake up slap or two, and then shakes her out of her podcast-based stupor. She wakes up, immediately thankful she has health insurance, and remarks that she'll be billing MCD for her x-rays when she's out of here.

Still wishing to maintain decorum, Thanos addresses both Atmey and Coral with an offer to continue to protect them from- nope they immediately sprint in different directions, with Atmey heading south towards the Horology Studio, and Coral latching onto the beanstalk to begin climbing. Thanos sighs. MCD, clutching his microphones, and now lacking a guest, offers to do a podcast with Thanos in the destroyed car, mourning the loss of their vehicle. Weeping for the car. Hugging the car. To sweeten the deal, he even promises an exchange of information on Coral and Atmey in return.

Thanos considers the offer for a few seconds. The car is very important to him and his interests, so he agrees, but on one condition...

...

Coral makes it onto the roof, and looks towards the sky for the helicopter, seeing a small black speck approaching from a distance. Downstairs, Atmey approaches the big man himself in the Horology Studio with an ultimate request: to guard the Clock Tower Heights against anyone attempting to enter. They hope to minimise the number of entrances, and keep their wits about them for Lee attempting to grind up the side of the Complex. Just as the agreement's about to be reached, Lulu enters, pointing a gun straight at Atmey and yours truly. From the basement... Rahliman, wielding a golden boomerang, is lured to Lee Chaolan and his faux-gold samurai armor, as he runs around the Amethyst Wing. After clashing their weapons a few times, and flecking fresh paint everywhere, Chaolan tosses the golden katana into the Pit Mine for Rahliman to dive after. Rahliman retrieves his prize, and ascends, for he can feel Atmey's presence nearby.
