I was wondering if there were reasons that episode wouldn't be as high for you but even if it doesn't have forever there's one episode I like even more than it left and other episodes left I like almost as much as it. The further it makes the better though as it's my second favorite MLP episode, and I think my third favorite cartoon episode of all time. Despite not being my favorite cartoon as a whole as that's Avatar: The Last Airbender, Friendship is Magic actually has my guesstimate of my favorite cartoon episode of all time too.

The 8 episodes are still really stockpiled for me with nine left (ten here because one is a two-parter), but Equestria Games was at least one of them. I had a feeling Rarity Investigates might be one of the more polarizing cuts but it's very good, I just like other episodes including in S5 more

Next up is Top Bolt, this is still a good episode with an interesting dilemma but I'm cutting it now partly just because I could have found it even more interesting, but also partly because I don't like that here Spitfire still calls Rainbow by her sensitive nickname Rainbow Crash and it's still portrayed as in the right. The episode could have at least still had that but been the one where Newbie Dash is directly contradicted and this time Spitfire has to apologize for saying the nickname.

Wow I completely forgot about Scare Master, that was supposed to be after Spice and before Apple Lies for me, but still a 7/10 so it's not abysmally far off from my rankings when it was cut. That's not the only weird thing that's happened about that episode before though considering it got last place in the Seasons 4-5 elimination game, a list with Somepony to Watch Over Me, Rainbow Falls, and What About Discord on it.

VLP was going to be my next cut but just because I like the other episodes more, and Leap of Faith has always been one of my favorite Applejack episodes even though I can see how people see it as overshadowed by other episodes in such a good season it's in (which in fairness it is) but it was still going to make it for me as one of the last 8/10 cuts. (It originally was a low 9 but I lowered the rating marginally after seeing it as having some similar ideas to one Disney sequel, though I'm not sure that was intentional)

Next up is Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3. This is still a very entertaining episode as in particular I always found Pinkie's rap to be hilarious, but I remember one reviewer seeing it as a flaw that the episode doesn't emphasize enough that by the books-style studying is sometimes the most needed type, and while iirc that was more of a nitpick for me than them, that combined with just liking the other episodes even more is why it's my next cut.

Hmmm Bats was a 9 instead of an 8, it wasn't in my preferred t10 but came fairly close.

Testing wasn't that far from the Top 10 here in fairness, it was #13 for S4

Next up is Fault In Our Cutie Marks, another "good but I just like the other episodes more plus one small nitpick" episode. The nitpick here is that I can see the complaints some fans have (despite the episode not being hated) that it could be more compelling that Gabby is amazing at everything she tries and it makes her feel too perfect. On the other hand the ep does do a good job showing Gabby not being perfect as a character and how she can be hard on herself.

EDIT: A lot of the S6 episodes cut recently have been the last remaining episode on the list lol

HWT was the highest episode on my 8 list but still an 8 so I'm at least happy it went

This cut might be one of the more surprising that I'm the one doing considering my love of Discord but while Dungeons and Discords is a very good episode with fun character writing and introducing Discord's friendship with Spike and Big Mac, it has the worst plot structure of the remaining episodes as a lot of the episode is Discord Spike and Big Mac standing around playing the game as well-written as they are doing so, and the chaotic board game one would want to see only happens much later on.

Daring Don't was pretty high in the r2 rankings I made with a 9 but it wasn't in my preferred t10 and I think I still liked it a lot but marginally less on rewatch

Three 8/10s left including a two-parter, will start on the two-parter. Where and Back Again was the first of my 8/10 two-parters that was gotten rid of by me, with it being held back by the fact that Starlight is portrayed as overreacting for thinking that the town could still hold it against her for brainwashing them in the cult, when it would have been better if some ponies in the town actually still did have a bad taste about how she acted. Next is Princess Twilight Sparkle which is a bit better as there isn't as much of one notable flaw like that one but the others still feel like they have even more energy and interesting ideas.

tbh i'm going for another two parter at this point, this was actually a pretty good episode and a good intro for starlight (my problems with her didn't start until cutie re-mark) but it's getting to the point where just about everything is good. this and princess twilight sparkle are about equal for me so they may as well leave together. twilight's kingdom is definitely the best two parter in this batch

fair warning that most of my 8s are gone already and some of my remaining ones might be hot takes, so be prepared for some big names to start falling. everything left is pretty good though, minus one personally but i get why people have it higher and i'll leave it a little while longer

good, Cutie Map was one of the three 9s distinctly lower than the others and the one two parter put of them

Four more episodes in particular are left on my hit list until sailing should start to become good (and a fifth episode but that's a much different context and lesser extent)

I was going to cut the other 8 before this but this round is starting to veer much closer to the Top 5 so I gotta go ahead with this one, there are some fun antics and it's great to introduce the Buckball game but the other episodes feel like they have better stories. If I know correctly the other 8 might not be the weakest episode left for dissenters on the cut anyways

welp, there goes the first episode from my ideal top 5, and my favorite episode of s6. in that case, i was originally going to let this be the last of my 8s standing, but i'm taking this out now as a threat to my faves. as i said when i took out hearth's warming tail, the more musical episodes are not my favorites, though this is admittedly the best one probably. it's fun, and i'm a weird al fan so cheese sandwich is one of my favorite guest ponies. none of the songs really stuck with me, though
