I also remember not liking Appleoosa's Most Wanted because it felt derivative of Bridle Gossip.

My next cut maybe I overreacted to it a bit, and would put it less low on rewatch, but I remember not placing it very well in my S1-5 rankings at all. I remember feeling like Canterlot Boutique could have shown Sassy Saddles' side having a bit more of a point and not finding the ep to be that interesting.

Coming up I'm probably about to be able to stop putting S5 through the wringer lol, because some episodes from the season weaker than it are going

nah canterlot boutique is a good episode. it's far from a favorite, but that feels too low of a placement for it. solid 7 out of 10

i was going to leave this alone for a while originally but since i've already lost my own personal controversial faves i feel emboldened to cut it now. it can be funny, sure, but also, i really don't like starlight glimmer. that enough will probably tell you why i don't like this episode

I thought your opinion on Starlight was more in the mildly but distinctly negative territory instead of strongly disliking her

ELTSD was always one of my favorite episodes of S6 but I will admit that Starlight only getting a bit of consequences is the weakest part of it. I can see why someone who doesn't like Starlight for similar reasons to the other people who don't like her would weigh the episode's flaws more heavily however.

This one's probably going to be a bit more uncontroversial than my last two cuts but while I don't remember much about Cart Before The Ponies apparently I didn't find it interesting or consider Rainbow, Rarity or AJ to be written well. Apparently I liked the song, but this is the last episode I put in the territory of disliking. Everything after this cut I at least consider to be okay. Wow it only took one day to get to that point instead of twenty days like Round 1

AJ's Day Off was going to be my next cut so my first fully neutral cut is Hooffields and McColts, this episode doesn't get everything wrong as the animation is impressive and colorful even by the show's standards and I remember thinking Twilight and Fluttershy were written well, but the plot felt stretched out too long for me and felt too much like a "boring argument humor episode" with the new characters not being interesting enough, for me to like outright.

ftr i actually loved simple ways lol but i could see why it's forgettable to some. the hooffields and mccolts i thought was ok but not much more than that, and the cart before the ponies is a big fat whatever

i might be nice and let the first half of this stay around a while because i will concede there is some cool stuff in this. alas, as established i am not a starlight enjoyer and i think this episode really kicked that off. there is actually one two parter i have below it but we won't get to that until next round (and it still could last longer than this because wow there are some real stinkers coming up)

Cutie Re-Mark is an episode I really liked originally with a 9/10 but considering Starlight gets no consequences for the scale of what she does I decided to bump it down to a 7 when reordering my rankings. While I still like the episode I won't find it to be obnoxious if it goes

Next up is Pony Point of View, with some of the same strengths and weaknesses as Hooffields and McColts, as the animation is nice even by the show's standards and there's at least a passable amount of fun/welcoming elements in the writing, so here that the different perspectives are cute, but it still feels too often like another dragged on argument humor episode, especially when here the characters are ooc about wanting to end their friendships with each other.

That would've been my cut after this episode, but I agree on Party Pooped yeah. It does have good parts to its writing because it fleshes out Pinkie a lot more and writes her as a competent character, but that the Yaks act like they do and get no consequences or even have to apologize at all is a definite dampener

I know Power Ponies was on its deathbed anyway but it was my next cut so it's going. I remember thinking it was original, but kind of slow and contrived.

I actually really liked On Your Marks and it covering the perspective of the CMC after they get their Cutie Marks, it was an 8/10 episode for me. Sure it wasn't the most groundbreaking thing ever but I still have good memories of it 9 years ago.

I know Stranger Than Fan Fiction would maybe last a bit longer otherwise, but while it is a fun concept that an extremely critical fan of the Daring Do series is tagging along with Rainbow on her journey, it can feel dragged on a bit plus one thing that really bugged me on rewatch was how Rainbow says about Quibble Pants "he's always like this, but he's usually right" to Daring even though Quibble incorrectly predicted everything that happened through the entire journey. It's still a fine episode though. Also might as well cut because I'm not sure this episode places incredibly for people here

Next up is gonna be grunt work regarding cutting probably the two weakest two parters here for me

Re-Mark was going to be my next cut in my strategy, although it was one of the more interchangeable episodes for me too because it is entertaining such as with cool alternate dimensions but Starlight's redemption does not just the episode itself no favors, but her arc as a whole no favors.

I don't know if this was the two parter you were intending to cut next but I doubt it will be an extremely controversial cut even though the episode isn't exactly despised; it does have some good character writing like from Spike and it being the introduction ep of Flurry Heart and Sunburst is nice, but it feels slower and more unambitious/"less epic" than better season openers like The Return of Harmony.

Everything by now is a 7/10 or better in my adjusted r2 rankings however, although things were a bit wonky in adjusting S6 in order to get these rankings so I'm not sure everything in S6 I've given a 7 would make it upon rewatch

I know some people like this episode and think it has a good moral execution but there are also a lot of people who see it as slow and forced, but I kinda think both the former and the first of the latter two adjectives, Fluttershy learns a very good moral without getting scared or going through meltdowns at any point so retaining her morals prom previous episodes but the other episodes left feel like they have a bit more energy and fun. If this is somehow a controversial cut here then there are episodes coming up that a good number of people see as average.

I knew Flutter Brutter was never the most popular episode but I enjoyed it, I found Zephyr's antics funny then but not as much in Sparkle's Seven because he acted like he learned about nothing.

I was actually going to cut another Pinkie S6 ep in my order but I'm just gonna cut this one instead, iirc this one has a bit more story structure and moral emphasis, than the other which is more filler based but the other one is more fun and I have a bit more fond memories of, plus it would have been nice if the critic had some good points instead of just being a mean strawman character to emphasize the moral to not always listen to critics.

Wow Bloom and Gloom was one of the episodes I liked a lot at 9/10, I loved the creepiness of the different dreams and moral of being careful about making sure you put yourself on the right track regarding your jobs such as for self-esteem with good insights into the characters' fears. It wasn't in my preferred Top 10 for this round but only by one spot. I can see how it might not be everyone's episode though consider it's less quote-unquote "story-driven" than the other two CMC dream episodes and is more focused on being outside the box.

Next up is Gift of the Maud Pie, this is a fun episode that I have good memories of but it can feel a bit like filler instead of really having a strong story and moral so while it's good it's not as good as the others.

Getting closer to the 8/10s, I just have 2 more 7's left after this.

Where The Apple Lies is an interesting episode to see a conflict with younger Applejack with some decent suspense, although it is awkward that this is the episode where Applejack is supposed to learn not to lie but she then lies a lot in later chronologically episodes like The Last Roundup, so it's my last 7. Three's A Crowd was the other 7 left but more because i think I just thought the episode could be even funnier and put Discord an a more compelling plot than already.
