I did a Pre-Hooktail Pit of 100 Trials Run!

First time ever! n the remake (which does mean if you die you can try again on a floor making it an awful lot easier really), over three days! I've beaten it on the original between chapters 5 and 6, and 4 and 5, then in the remake last year between I think 2 and 3. But this time, before even fighting Hooktail so it's the earliest you can do it. I definitely think the Pit's enemies overall are harder than Bonetail himself. Basically the Mega Rush P badge was incredibly useful, as Koops and Goombella could do tons of damage at 1 HP, good to keep them there or let them die, run away and come back. And the other great badge is the Fire Drive badge, ignores defence so overall very handy as otherwise Mario can't much damage. Only weakness is on the Chain Chomps, it does nothing, so superguarding is a necessity on them (more than usually, one has to superguard a lot in the whole run).

Usually Multibounce is a fantastic badge but since Mario does so little damage, and I don't have Spike Shield or Ice Power yet, much negated here. Super Appeal came in very handy. A lot of those Mr. Mover mice appeared, like six or seven, kind of annoying since I was trying to level up - started at Level 3, finished at Level 21, which to be honest is lower than I would've expected, but I didn't manage to defeat any Amayzee Dayzees, and the Bob-Ulks blow up from Fire Drive, giving no star points, meaning one of the last 10 floors I got only 1 star point from, in fact two, since Bonetail only gives 1 start point (oh, and 999 coins!).

Also that guy who gives the items out on every tenth floor only showed up once, on Floor 90. It's taken so long to do this, I stopped on Floor 90 yesterday, thinking what I would buy, Thunder Rages probably, even wrote it in my diary. Then I started playing, arranged the badges and just dived straight down! Completely forgot about the items. So, just three fire flowers to use on Bonetail. I got an Ultra Shroom somewhere so that could have come in handy - but I never used it! Oh and one of the Swoopla bat enemies dropped a Lucky Day!! So, two Lucky Days! Plus two Pretty Luckys and the Close Call, Bonetail couldn't hit me very much. Superguard his hand whacky attack, and the breath if possible - the worst thing he was doing was some attack that made Mario sleep for three turns, or freezing him. But most of the time he couldn't hit him.

A lot of use of the Sweet Treat, over and over to get FP - usually I level up basically just BP for ages but with a lack of badges this time, it was a lot more FP - from 10 to about 35 I think. And 40 HP, plus an HP Plus badge. Just using that one star power move over and over, then appealing. I beat Bonetail on the second try. (Now's probably the best time I'll ever get to mention that years ago, when I first tried beating the Pit between chapters 5 and 6, I died to him when he had 18 HP left; then, replaying the game, when I did it between chapters 4 and 5, I died again! He had 3 HP left! Shouldn't have tried using Art Attack on him) Six Boos ran into Mario during the Bonetail fight, usefully, more time to appeal and use Sweet Treat.

So yeah. A very long challenge, very long writing! The actual fight at the end took I think over half an hour (I was fighting him an hour ago from writing this) but it's done! At last! Now the rest of the game might be a bit easy...
