a week late to be added to The 'Shroom, but it finally got done, and I think with how fucking massive this thing is, hopefully, it'll have been worth the weight.

Me and Stoob worked hard on compiling 100 songs we feel are unique or special to the 2010s, and while I don't expect everyone to like everything we've featured on this list, we hope it'll at least be a fascinating read and will get people exploring new music - after all, not all good music was made before you were born (LE WRONG GENERATION!!!)

Diggs is my goddamn homeboy, ddud

very good taste

The effort you two put into this is inspiring :0

Despite having heard like...seven (?) of these tracks, I can guarantee that these are all excellent picks. I'd trust these two with my aural media life, so defs check these tunes out, as I will.

Barnett representin' my home turf, yo. Her lyricism is so amusing to me.

tell me the truth, dankthony memetano

Nice list, but as far as what Justin song to put on there, I would have gone with Suit & Tie over Mirrors.

I'll definitely have to check out the ones that I haven't heard (which there are a lot of).

just curious, if King Kunta was the top song of the year (i think stooben put it as that in one of his past issues), then how come it's Blacker the Berry that's on this list?

also, seeing Lorde on the list, what're your opinions on 400 Lux? i think it's the best song from the album, though i'm unable to actually listen to it because it makes me too sad lol

Good list, I approve of the inclusion of SSPU and The Shins. Gun is probably the last CHVRCHES song I'd have picked off their first album, I prefer Lies and The Mother We Share personally, or Science/Visions. Disappointed that there's nothing by The New Pornographers on it (in what world is Taylor Swift better than TNP?) but well, taste varies, nothing I can do about that :P

Warning. The theatre geek in me is gonna go off on a tangent.

I'd like to start off by saying I love the sheer variety in artists and genres here. It's a great and diverse list. I do feel like the genre of musical theatre was left out. I completely get it. Not a lot of people listen to Broadway cast albums. At the same time, there is some great music in shows like Book of Mormon, Waitress, Fun Home, and of course Hamilton.

I'm not upset about it. It's your list after all. I wasn't expecting there to be much of this style anyway.

"Mirrors" was a suggestion given to us by Scarecrow when he was contributing to the list. It certainly had the biggest impact and feels like his most ambitious project, so we ran with that. "Suit and Tie" is still wicked, tho.

"King Kunta" was Scarecrow's second favourite song of 2015, and was initially suggested by him. Me and Stooben thought "The Blacker the Berry" was the best track on the album, tho, so we ran with that.

I adore basically all of Pure Heroine, as limited as her pool of lyrical subjects is thus far. It makes me excited to see her evolve as an artist as she gets older and experiences a lot more. As for the list, the choices were either "Royals" or "Tennis Courts", but we figured "Royals" was the more recognised track, so best to run with that.

Theatre is more a medium rather than a genre, and I feel like putting just a few tracks from broadway musicals would be a disservice to the massive medium. It occupies a similar space as classical to me; beautiful and perfectly valid, but feels like it deserves to be analysed distinct from "popular music".

Would a Best Theatre Songs project be something you'd personally be interested in doing? It would certainly give theatre the detail and attention befitting of how broad the medium is, and you'd certainly be far more educated than me or Stooben.

That makes total sense. It is a very different beast. A project like that might be something I look towards in the future. It would be a big undertaking and not something I could see myself doing soon what with how crazy my schedule is gonna get as the summer winds down and all sorts of school stuff starts up.

oh lmao it was scarecrow who did the other list

i have a terrible memory

anyway nice ranking, I'll see how many songs i can give a listen
