Let's Play Fire Emblem - Chapter 1: Backwards Knights

It says Fire Emblem on the front, with no "Awakening" or "Sacred Stones" after it. Clearly, this is the first in the series.

JldTRqK.png

Okay, here we go.

vMlXAbB.png

LZJwCyt.png

m390s7Q.png

Wait, that's all the info I can put in? Where's the stat modifiers? Where's the avatar appearance?

No, wait. Clearly they're just going to use the stats I already have from Awakening. That's good, because I maxed them all out.

7dRSt3F.png

Scariest chapter name ever.

DUvoMip.png

Is this a Fire Emblem cliche or something? Waking up in the middle of a field and meeting people who instantly like you and accept you? I feel like I'm playing a GBA version of Awakening.

ajzKJgx.png

I...guess it is. : /

utYYlDh.png

All I previously know about Lyn is that she's an Assist Trophy in Brawl.

Does she get to dash across the entire map and slash people instantly in this game too?

i6JgHAw.png

Oh no. No no no NO NO. We are NOT doing the amnesia thing agai-

GrC9kVE.png

Oh. Good.

13DLiBN.png

My internet name is now officially Lyn-approved.

JlHOexd.png

So then any complex backstory for me is quickly glossed over as something happens.

Convenient.

Ws0u3mU.png

What is it with bandits in Fire Emblem games? I feel like there are more bandits than civilians, honestly.

LlKyzFn.png

Yes, that's what bandits do.

EaPu49N.png

Ain't no way I'm staying in here. Gimme my Brave Sword and Thoron and Mjölnir and-

RPJpLti.png

Sure I can. I think I got the Silver Medal for Most Enemies Killed in Awakening.

Gold was Morgan. It's always Morgan. Kid knows how to fight.

N8RMewo.png

Do you not know what this fancy gold robe I'm wearing means? It means I'm a Grandmaster, lady. I'm, like, the pinnacle of strategy.

Let's do this.

YsCkaeE.png

Advice? My advice is to sit back and watch as I single-handedly destroy these chumps with magic.

52eMDwa.png

Wait, what?

...

...

...

I hate this game.

Gt3CsA5.png

It looks like my job will not consist of smashing my enemies into tiny bits, and will instead consist of babysitting a bunch of weaklings.

And there was much sadness.

NZzKAI5.png

Well, if I'd brought my Swiftsole with me, you wouldn't move so slowly. Sorry, but I didn't plan on waking up in a field with nothing.

Although you'd think that would be something I'm used to by now.

fEK02qh.png

The silly thing about Fire Emblem is that most of the time, combat consists of enemies running to you, not away from you. It'd be cooler if you had to run them down or something.

But that's probably just my RTS mind talking.

yPdzW27.png

Unless you can throw your sword, like that stupid animation for Amatsu in Awakening.

c3okMLA.png

Oh, I guess you only have an Iron Sword. Well, that's cool. I used only those through the entire campaign of Sacred Stones.

m5OAQPI.png

2Vx3cTQ.png

CedZxEB.png

This is why I never put axe users in my army.

8BwEvbR.png

If you screencap it perfectly, it looks beautiful when you hit someone. Like it's a magic sword of turning enemy health into light.

GqU1MQY.png

One turn later, he's dead.

Though he managed to hit. I would be upset, except for the fact that this is probably a cutscene designed to teach me to use vulnerary even though clerics are a much better way of restoring health.

IrZMKGD.png

Predicted.

M2GblfL.png

That's good. You're smart enough t-

jim59hn.png

Oh please. Are really this lazy?

You know, if I was the one with the sword, this wouldn't be happening.

X2UNGhO.png

Wait a sec! Where did those Vulneraries come from? And why does she have two?

I'm just going to assume that the bandit dropped them.

miODNx0.png

You totally couldn't have done this yourself, Lyn.

9DdE85n.png

Uh, an assist trophy?

gBPcJDX.png

Dumbest. Name. Ever.

ncpp6yk.png

I'm going to spare you the embarrassment of laughing at that name, and just kill you.

uefrzPr.png

Aw crap.

Q5ItkiY.png

While your concern for my safety is great and all, I think I'll just pick up your sword and kill him myself if you die.

You know, it's way cooler that way.

s07NgpA.png

Oh yeah, I forgot about the gate healing factor. That's always annoying.

6rTQlIR.png

Convienent.

BMSHFxm.png

Whoa.

8WWzvCF.png

W-wait, don't leave! I need that sword t-

J0iwy9s.png

Boom. Lyn's got some moves.

Eirika's crit animation was way lamer than this.

yDDx5id.png

To be honest, I would probably be thinking the same thing if I was him. How did she split into three copies, vanish, and then attack?

ctbT3aF.png

Impressive. Most impressive.

spgfBVI.png

Not really. Cutscene Power and Plot Armor shield you from falling to any early game mooks.

bYkxe9r.png

And here we do. We win.

Now we can steal everything insid-

XqYGRzJ.png

Wait, what?

8Aykp8j.png

Yeah, grabbing a Vulnerary from your satchel and giving it to you was pretty exhausting.

Ecbg6YF.png

All shall bow before my Vulnerary-grabbing skills.

jtEiFmT.png

Uh, I guess? I wasn't really planning on going anywhere, but if you're that impressed by my ability to use Vulnerary...

dk9EWHp.png

Oh. That sucks.

aFLsoyu.png

I could make another joke about how it's always bandits, but out of respect for Lyn I won't.

I2Jyq2g.png

Uheg83K.png

The chief goal of Fire Emblem is to teach guys that women are just as good at killing people as they are.

AvbNiMK.png

Well, that's good. Off to adventure, I guess?

UgzSJwn.png

Uh, if we had more than one sword, I guess I could train you.

HtQF9VJ.png

Wait, so... I'm actually in charge in this game?

Sweet. No high-ranking Lords to overrule my good advice.

To battle!

lol, sounds about right for you. :P

But at least with my experience with them the CPU's seem to miss WAY more than your personal units.

Re: Let's Play Fire Emblem

Not really. I've missed plenty of times with 90+ Hit chance.

...by plenty I mean about 7 times.

But I beg to differ. Vaike missed all the time in Awakening, which is why I never trained him. Also because his defense was awful. Like his personality.

They don't really miss that much for me. (and I always found that Vaike's high hp made up for his weaknesses)

Re: Let's Play Fire Emblem

Somehow I like this more than the video variations of this. This bodes well.

A journey of a thousand screencaps starts with a single download.

3E5xVUK.png

Oh, good! Now I can buy myself a sword, and use my awesome stats to kill everyone in our path!

I think I'll start my own empire, Walhart style. That would be awesome.

Rjsmkd1.png

lprcsaY.png

Look, it's Virion's great-great-great-grandfather.

ExHkWxx.png

9laAVxa.png

Burn.

I like Lyn, she doesn't put up with much.

eMsEeBE.png

Oh, and here's the red knight. There's always a red knight and a green knight, although usually the green one is more srs bsns and the red one is more casual. Guess these guys are reversed?

0LEbXre.png

3H2qi9W.png

Lyn thinks that he's just trying to pick her up. I can't really blame her -
