yeah i pretty much agree with everything you just said

although of course being the libertarian that i am i don't see any reason to ban regular drivers just because a more advanced technology exists. like you said, you could just make licenses harder to obtain
 
^ Per... mostly. We'll just have to see how great the automated cars can perform under certain conditions. Well the Google car was rear-ended, so it was driving in the city (if it was a highway, then the accident would of been way worst), and don't forget these cars were tested before 2010.

Did anybody in this thread brought up Google's self-driven cars? The first time Google let them out on a city (I think about 30 of them went out) none of them went into an accident except one, but it was rear-ended so technically it wasn't its fault.

I'm not trying to compare video games and reality. What I'm trying to compare is my short attention span. I can hyperfocus in video games because theses activities are interesting, but in something mundane like driving, more stuff can distract me, like birds or something on my lap. Now, since I can get distracted even in interesting video games, you can imagine how low my attention span is for the real thing. In fact, as I said, I bumped a curb because I was trying to adjust or move something in the car. The only road I'd driven on is parking lots. And it's for one day. I don't have any other experience to make good judgments.




I'm all for driverless cars. In fact, it's not too far because we'll get driverless taxis and buses in a few years. Being a taxi driver is a grueling and even dangerous job, so I'm glad that less people will be doing it or at least have less burden on them.

Such fallacy! Listen here, as you said, you only drove on a parking lot which is something completely different from the road, so that doesn't count. Here's the deal, from experience, those stresses will go away in due time as driving becomes more like a habit and becomes natural. To be frank, it is exactly like learning how to ride a bike with no training wheels and all the safeties to it. And that part how you said your focused on video games because it is interesting compared to driving, seriously? Like you said, you only drove in a parking lot which doesn't count. Here's the thing about driving, and don't get scared from this, the fact that you are solely piloting a metal-box at speeds faster than the fastest man alive of which if you were to go into an immediate stop (like crashing) you'll slightly injure yourself, or if that the were to hit anyone you'll seriously injure them, is more than enough motive to allow your body to keep you super focused and attentive on the road the entire time. And I hope you realize, not saying that you are oblivious or straight out stupid about it, how dangerous and stupid it is to be behind the wheel while texting, calling, or being drunk, or even being sleepy, but you'll have to be dumb to actually fall asleep behind the wheel, because all you energy is directed to focus and motor functions that's it. To be actually that sleepy isn't the usual slight drowsiness you feel before going to bed, you'll have to be dead-low on energy in order to sleep behind the wheel which is as dangerous, or actually more dangerous than drunk driving (more people have been killed by this than alcohol). I'm saying that straight out from experience.

I've seen my mom drive, and she can't even distinguish between left and right easily. I don't want to end up like her.

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. And about drunk drivers, no need to worry about them, you can see them from a mile away, just keep your distance from them, emphasis on "distance"!

you only have to worry about them at the late hours of night

and then it's usually easier to see them because there are way less cars on the road
 
^ He is right. Out of my 5 years of driving, I've seen probably 1 or 2 drunk drivers, that's it.
 
Hmmmm, what are the odds of getting involved in a fatal car crash? And now, compare it to the odds of something else?

Also, how many accidents are caused by people running the red lights?
