One thing that irritates me about the separation of church and state is that it was intended to stop government intervention in the church but now it's interpreted as to prevent church interference in the government.

why

Because the church will fuck up the government.

Good. I'd be happy with Santorum as president, even if he does seem a bit inexperienced.

Santorum thinks gay marriage is equal to bestiality. PRESIDENTIALNESS.

They would have thrown you in an insane asylum in the 1950s if you suggested it.

That's because the 1950s sucked.

When in doubt about politics, consult the SMW forum.

Can someone sum up for me what each of the GOP candidates stand for/defend/condemn/whatever?

That's an awesome reference site. That might be one of the only unbiased political sites I've ever seen.

Politifact is pretty unbiased too. It may have a bit of a liberal slant, but that may just be because conservative politicians tend to be the ones saying their opponent is causing swine flu or whatever the hell it is this week, and thus require debunking. Liberal politicians are usually safe and boring.

Thanks :) I don't like them much, but the one I dislike the least is probably Paul, but from what I've seen I think he won't win the primaries or whatever you call that.

My problem with Paul, as I've said before, is that he doesn't want to give money to Israel and he doesn't want to interfere with Iran's nuclear program.

I like how people complain about the United States always interfering with other countries affairs, but then complain when the United States doesn't interfere in other countries affairs.

What's so great about Israel anyway? I get the religious perspective on it, but you've never struck me as particularly religious.

Ralphfan is Jewish, so therefore Israel gets special exception to the "stop meddling with other countries' business!" rule.

I never said the US shouldn't be in people's business. They probably shouldn't have gotten themselves into all of this in the first place, but now that they're in it, backing out would completely upset the worldwide balance of power.
