The lack of plot and the lack of the usual paper mario feeling (for most of the game), was what annoyed me the most tbh.
The battle system sucked but you could say I stopped caring.

You did know about the black market toad right? You can just buy things you need, not like levels are long anyway. You can usually run through an entire level to the place you need in roughly two minutes. Also I'm fond of the sticker mechanic.
I agree that I didn't like 4 of the levels. The underground one in World 1 because I'm not good at the 2d platforming, the poison infested + swinging wood in World 3 because waiting for the swings was annoying, the dumb quiz level with the obnoxious snifits, and the World 5 level with all the junk in it (mainly just bitter because that was one of two puzzles that confused the fuck out of me.). I enjoyed the rest, most of them I enjoyed thoroughly.
I felt like it had the best 'paper' mario feel of the entire series, because it felt like a completely paper made world.

I do see the flaws in the game (no true incentive to battle, bosses are lame, final boss is terrible, thing stickers are required too much, some puzzles can be vague, etc.) but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with it.
