Stock up on Repel Gel. That's it.
 
It's near impossible without Bow for me because I rarely up HP.

Also, I can't pull off superguards in the first or let partners take damage for Mario.
 
Um, Pyro, superguards were introduced in TTYD and partners can't take damage for Mario because they don't have HP. They can still get hurt though.
 
I pwned Tubba's heart with Goombario.

Oh well, I simply charged the hell out and weakened him with Mario. Then...

Headbownked.

I KNOW. That's why I said I can't pull it off!
 
It took me awhile to realize that I needed Bow to defeat both the heart and Tubba Blubba. I somehow managed to kill the heart, but then would die from low HP by Tubba. I even upgraded my HP to 50. Alas, after some events, I realized I could do it easily as long as I had Bow. Of course, you're talking to the guy that didn't realize you can jump twice on enemies with good timing until three years ago. >.< Man did PM and TTYD get 20x easier...
