The author said that she got the idea from Thesues and the Minotaur, The Iraq War, and a reality show. And she put them together
 
Though I haven't seen the whole movie yet, I noticed last night it was still #1 this past weekend! Plus one of my colleagues, while shopping at a mall near where I live (if you don't know, it's the Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn, MI), he almost ended up watching The Hunger Games at that mall's AMC theater! But fortunately for him, he didn't because he read the reviews of that theater online and notice many of them were negative.
 
Too many people are in the mindset that books have to be better than movies.

I really liked how the movie allowed you to see things besides the games, such as how Seneca is punished.

To add on to it, I also liked the scenes where the game makers are deciding what to do when the games are running.
