The rule against spam will prevent posts that do not convey anything substantial.

"Per" does not convey anything substantial.

Well "XD" also counts as substantial because it shows that the poster found the previous post as funny, then.

And so would "lolololololol"

I really don't see a reason to count posts in Forum Games. It's post quality that matters, not quantity.

One-word (or other really, really short) posts are kind of a split area. Posts such as "Per __" are fine, because it expresses that you agree with someone on something. Posts such as "XD", ":D", "lolololol", and "tl;dr" will generally add nothing to a topic outside of Mindless Junk. Why? "XD" and "lololol" are expressing that you found something funny. Very few topics outside of Mindless Junk are really meant to be found funny. "Tl;dr" adds nothing to a topic as well. If it was too long and you didn't read what was posted, then don't bother responding. ":D" and "XD" are just emoticons, so...

Basically, it's a case-by-case scenario with tiny posts.

Yes, thank you. Somebody agrees with me. ;-;

The whole thing is that I do agree that quality matters.

But quality should not affect the quantitative value of a post. They just add up, but for what? As long as they are contributing to the discussion, I'd really see no reason to discard the post as invalid for being counted. Everybody will see if someone is making posts to have fun and to contribute to the forum; everybody will also see if someone is just posting to raise their post count.

The only thing that a person can get out of a big post count is bragging about it, which will just them them despised or ignored. Nobody really likes someone who is going to try to make themselves look big by doing nothing.

EDIT: By the last sentence, I'm referring to those who post just to raise their count, not to anybody who posted in a tasteful and proper manner.

There are still more reasons to keep the rule as it is than there are reasons to change them.
