No but actually I can't think of any pointless character. Aside from Tiara they're all a variety of avatars for players to select from. The more the merrier. Tiara similar she adds character to a place and moment of her surrounding world, in fact it'd be neat if she were playable.

Yoshi's Island is my all time fav for how it covers a lot of different terrain and is very zany. Sky High Sundaes cool because it's the first to introduce a real sense of "climbing then dropping" Also love all the courses that are different roads every lap.

Honestly I miss simpler selection in MK series.. it'd be nice if you just chose from a categorized selection of classes instead of having to read the graph for everything.. With a little additional notes of like "good underwater!"
