That's pretty much how it works in every Mario RPG, actually. The only exception I can think of is Super Paper Mario (and maybe Mario + Rabbids but I don't know if you can count that as a Mario RPG? Sounds like a good debate though lol).

Oh yeah, I'm loosely familiar with those people. Well, the six protectors plus Phognik and the lady in the bottom tier (don't remember her name). I assume the rest are Preservers but I don't recognize them.

I like how there's seven variants of Yoshi before the original. (Also Black Yoshi in that pale green tier.) Also, I don't believe I'm familiar with the third and fourth characters (I assume they're OC's) in the "Wouldn't" tier list.

I would like to note that the castle that Luigi winds up in is actually Bowser's Castle (evidenced by the flag flying from the pole), however, it's clearly old and rundown as a crumbling wall from the distant shot and various debris when Luigi is trying to close the gate can be seen. My guess...
