Gacha mechanics in full-price $60 games are disgustingly evil scams

Microtransactions have no place in a 60 dollar title. Full stop.

@YoshiFlutterJump it's not a gacha system. It's "just" microtransactions. I mean, there is a degree of RNG when it comes to the store items rotating every day, but you can still pick and choose what you can buy. What's not okay is that those prices in the store are really high. In-game currency payout is low, like between 20 and 70 coins offline and a few hundred online (with bonuses I think), but the cheapest items in the store are 750 coins, and those are decals. The paints are generally 1,000 coins and new vehicles come in packs (which show up once per day) that cost over 4000 coins. New characters are 1,500 coins. (continued)

(continued) Now you see how grindy it is, especially if you don't wish to play online, you'll see that Activision has introduced a means of paying real money to get more in-game currency as a "shortcut" and a "solution" to a problem they designed it. They purposely made it crappy and grindy to make these microtransactions more appealing, and it's absolutely gross they did this in a $40 title.

If you don't even have an internet collection, you're out of luck if you want to access the store. Don't bother buying Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled if you can't reliably connect to online. A ton of the game's content, tons of paintjobs, characters, character outfits, vehicles, and decals are tied to this store, and this store requires an internet connection to use. (continued)

But since you're probably not into Activision-published games, you should know that this is around on par of the course for Activision. They're a really shady business overall and you'd do well to distrust anything they lay their grubby hands on.

Yeah, I haven't played many of Activision's games, but I've heard of their "pay once pay more" shenanigans so I think that's a good thing.
