I hope this does not come off as insensitive, but I've read about earthquakes in stories and how it could be terrorising. It kind of makes me thankful that over here there aren't earthquakes (if there are they aren't noticeable).

The main reason they're terrifying is that they occur straight the hell out of nowhere, and they shake your house up for a bit. The one I just felt wasn't the strongest one that I had ever experienced but it's always nerve-wracking to feel a one above 4.0.
