Have you considered that Smash has surpassed being a Nintendo crossover, and there are far better choices then c-tier Nintendo characters that no-one outside of Nintendo fans actually care about.

I see people going "oh, people don't want Nintendo characters in the all the time", and it reminds me of the "Third-Party Bad" (because they both contain many of the same people, and have a large overlap in ideas). There's a lot of potential candidates for Smash, so many great characters, and limiting it to just Nintendo characters is a terrible decision.

I never even said that, I am just tired of people trashing Nintendo characters for not being third party, I feel like the pass being third party only will make it harder for a good deal of the Fighter Pass to return for the next game and not giving characters and game a chance simply due to not being familiar with them

You know what, why restrict it to just video games in general? Why not have stuff from other media? Exactly who's stopping Nintendo, aside from copyright shit? What good arguments are there to be made that characters from non video game media shouldn't appear in it? Why not be a celebration of pop culture as a whole?

Never said what? "Third Parties Bad"? If that's the case, then I never said you did, I just don't like what how similar those two statements are, and how much overlap they have. It might as well be a slightly more subtle of saying "I don't like Third Parties", because as I said, they have a lot of overlap in both meaning and people who say those sort of things.

In the case of "oh, people don't want the Nintendo character in the Nintendo game", well, you're post quite clearly stated that, so I wouldn't say you didn't say it.

I feel like the pass being third party only will make it harder for a good deal of the Fighter Pass to return for the next pass
This statement doesn't make sense, please elaborate.

not giving characters and game a chance simply due to not being familiar with them
Which is the exact issue with people dismissing Third Parties, "they're bad because they're not Nintendo".

Honestly, I find this statement really combative as well. I like some of the c-tier Nintendo characters that no one actually cares about, especially the more obscure reps. I'm still here wanting Stunt Race FX to be represented as a fighter.

I think you two have to just chill, man. They're avatars. Does it really matter who you get in the end? You have like, over 60 fighters in this game. Any choice would be okay...I'm not even all that hyped for new fighters anyway since I have a main and I'm sticking with him, so more fighters would be just, idk, more choices. I would never get my actual most-wanted in anyway.

I have far too heated head when I wrote this, I apologize
Once again, I am not against more third party stuff, I just don't like the hatred for the game's original purpose, Twitter isn't a place for calm discussion I suppose, that was I was reacting to

Twitter is pretty rancid overall, yeah, so I don't blame you.

Oh, and you're talking to a game modder. "Original purpose"? What's that?

Fandoms are not a singular amorphous blob sharing a hivemind. They are collectives of many people who are loosely grouped under one vague common interest, yet all hold their own individual sets of values and opinions. One sub-group having one opinion and another favoring its opposite is not a contradiction or hypocrisy. They are not the same person.

When a group of 3 friends decide to share a pizza, it is possible for two of them to want mushrooms while the third absolutely abhors them and will state this vocally. Their opinions conflict, even though they all claim to like pizza. Yet somehow, the pizza joint does not call the cops to report a bunch of crazy people.

It's because this is completely normal and expected, and calling it out is pointless.

I think the comment is more like calling out some people who have hypocritical views because their preferences favor this one character over another. Let's face it: all new fighters technically are promotions for games. Smash often is used as an outlet to get people introduced to a lot of games out there, so it seems a bit weird to me that say Corrin was called out for being an ad for Fire Emblem Fates but Bayonetta isn't. I guess there's an argument that some characters are blatantly more advertisements than others, but honestly, it's not the worst ads this industry has done, Street Fighter 5 has it done far worse.
