Super Mario Boards

Kinda find it weird that you find that weird. 90% of game protags either have very little personality or attempt to have the player enter themselfs into the role. Tbh, I personally think that a good support cast and fun gameplay is all it needs to be enjoyable. Although, an interesting main charcacter is always welcome and can make a game better. Like Shantae for example.

Well I have played Sonic games just because of Eggman while pretty much disliking 90% of the characters, so you're not alone.

I have a tendency to bond with the character I'm using, perhaps, since you spend the most time on them. It's a familiarity breeds fondness thing, and you control them the entire time. On the other hand, the other characters get only so much screentime and you don't use them. I find it "weird" because, again, those main characters happen to be my favorites, so they're a really good way to keep playing, because you're using them and you care about them.

Yeah I don't like Sonic's cast that much. I didn't mind using Sonic in Team Sonic Racing but a lot of characters in that game were unbearable.

That's not the case for me.

FE: Binding Blade is my second favorite in the series. Yet Roy, its main character, is my least favorite lord from the games I've played.

I also don't like Paper Mario himself, and how he's portrayed as the guy who everyone loves and all the girls want to kiss. That hasn't impacted my enjoyment of the first Paper Mario (Although the case is extreme in TTYD so I guess that's one game that's affected).

Oh man. I really don't care about Mario in those games while finding almost everyone else amusing. He's so bland there.

Not sure if it's similar to Team Sonic Racing but I've played Soooonic and Seega allll Starss Raacingg!!! (that's how the announcer who won't shut up said it so I had to silence him lmao) and I pretty much played as Eggman and his badass monster truck eggmobile there while virtually ignoring every other character, except obviously for Joe Musaishi and Crazy Taxi man because, well, how can you not love that. I guess the game introduced me to some cool Sega games, but I couldn't force myself to care for idk Billy Hatcher or Aiai or Ulala for example. They just didn't catch my eye that much because I barely know anything about them and most of them have like 1 game or 2.

Btw most of the cars feel super heavy which I don't like, and the items are not very original on how they look. Oddly enough the heavyness of Eggman's vehicle didn't really annoy me as much as Sonic's.

Paper Mario's blandness in the games is one of the reasons I prefer the Mario & Luigi games anyhow, but I also can't help feeling I like Paper Mario the most out of all the other characters. I just don't find myself liking the other characters more than Paper Mario, but I'm woefully biased.

I have a feeling I'd like Marth from Fire Emblem but I don't know if he's recurring. It might be just Smash Bros. rubbing off as I did use Marth before in Smash Bros.

I've also played Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed and my sister stuck with General Winters and then I used Ages and was thrust into hard mode of the game lol; fared okay despite the shock (the game isn't easy). Most of the roster I don't care about. I hate Ulala (I nickname her "Uvula"), Gum, and Pudding a lot and wish they'd die, and I also think Tails, Amy, Metal Sonic, Shadow, that punk with the headphones, and all three monkeys should drive off a cliff. The rest of the roster is all right, and Danica Patrick is just so left-field I can't hate her. I didn't get the YouTuber dweeb because he's just awful.

I give it to you that Eggman's always been great as a punching bag and he always cracks me up when his team finishes last in Team Sonic Racing so many times lol.

Marth is only the main character of like, 2 games + their remakes. I think he's alright, but his second game's remake IS my least favorite FE so...

Alternatively the series is full of main characters so you're bound to like at least one.
