  • Are participation trophies and consolation prizes just a band aid to patch up people's figurative wounds telling them they were failures?

this to me is a double edge sword SURE kids shouldnt get these because they can teach them the value of failure and how you need to work harder next time mainly giving you something to work towards BUT on the other some kids need those dinky little trophys to keep up there confidence and some a just happy to have SOMETHING to hang up on there wall or shelf rather than nothing.

Just got word that wrestling legend Hulk Hogan passed away from what sources believe to be cardiac arrest at the age of 71. Definitely a celebrity death I didn't expect to see this year, but still an unfortunate one all the same. Godspeed, Hulkster. 🖤🙏

Wow I didn't know Hulk Hogan passed away (apparently it was today). To be honest I'm not entirely sure he was a great guy based on what I've heard about him, but I would not celebrate his passing either. Hulk Hogan is also one example of a real-life person who was referenced in a Mario game, in fact my favourite Mario game of all time - Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, where his name is Hawk Hogan in the Spanish localisation.
Check out Fake News and Palette Swap in today's 'Shroom issue once it releases. Me and DryBonesBandit have collaborated on a tag team adventure for Cooking Guide and Dry Dry Data respectively, that charming rogue Wallace Ulysses will be bringing you the latest weather predictions for the Waluigi's Island region in Weather Forecast, my Mariosona and his friends continue to throw down on the sports field against the Zellon Armed Forces in Sport Report: The Movie, and Waluigi and his band of brothers continue to wipe out Minister Crêpe's evil Luff Empire in Die WAH With A Vengeance - Part 2!
I just had a (At least to me) groundbreaking idea for a writing plan for next year's calendar of The 'Shroom come to me. I've been seeing a lot of content appear in my YouTube recommendations discussing Nintendo's mistreatment of Diddy Kong lately, and that gave me the idea of constructing a year-long writing plan for The 'Shroom's 2026 run - In a similar vein to me writing all sorts of Waluigi themed 'Shroom sections as a means of celebrating an unofficial Year of Waluigi in 2025, I was thinking of writing all sorts of of Diddy Kong themed 'Shroom sections all throughout 2026 as a means of achieving justice for Diddy Kong after his mistreatment from Nintendo. I was thinking of nicknaming this writing plan "Diddy Kong Redemption", a play on "Diddy Kong Racing" and "Red Dead Redemption". What do you think? Is this writing plan for 2026's 'Shroom run workable?
I know I talked about Girl Meets World before on here, but the more I delve into how messy the show really was, the more I wonder if the show's writers were under the influence of alcohol or other such intoxicating consumables while writing the episodes and the accompanying scripts for the show, or if the majority of the show's scenes were improvised because the kids were under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicating consumables and the directing crew just decided to roll with it.

Come to think of it, I think this applies to a lot of shows and movies that came out of Disney Channel, not just Girl Meets World alone. And seeing as the primary target audience for all of these series and films were preteen kids, I probably shouldn't think too much of the corny writing and acting.
Is it true that the reason Patrick Star didn't cry after being turned into a baby in Spongebob's Goo Goo Gas episode is because if real life babies don't cry after their birth, it's a sign they have a severe mental condition, which would explain why Patrick is so highly unintelligent?

Update: I just learned that Patrick is so highly unintelligent because real life starfish are said to lack any form of brains, so please disregard my question in the OP.
Check out The 'Shroom's Villain Summer Special Takeover when it releases today, for I've got an interesting line-up of villain-themed sections on offer for you all, including a certain alien invader hijacking the Fake News offices to bring you a documentary on his upbringing and arrival in the Mushroom World, Wallace Ulysses bringing you the latest Waluigi-themed news regarding an alleged crime our favorite purple troublemaker has committed, and Waluigi going on an epic quest across the Waffle Kingdom to bring retribution to the sorcerer who previously took his life!
When it comes to writing fanfiction for the Sonic fandom, I'm about as useless as Omochao, and when it comes to writing fanfiction for the Total Drama fandom, I'm about as incompetent as Ezekiel...
Man, I can't wait for my two weeks of summer vacation to begin, because the hot weather combined with the general insanity of my workplace is really trying my patience...
I know chances of something like this officially happening are slim, but wouldn't it be cool if Nintendo were to make a Mario game aimed at teenagers that features Mario and Luigi as mobsters going around gunning down enemies with tommy guns, and that enemies likewise are armed with guns?
Had Bowser Junior never came to exist and Miyamoto never retconned the Koopalings' backstory of being Bowser's kids, would we at some point have seen a plotline where Ludwig was leading the Koopa Troop in Bowser's stead?

Probably. I think having the second in command temporarily lead is a reasonably common plot element. It would be a pretty interesting alternate universe, given the ways Bowser Jr. and Ludwig differ
While I am still finding enjoyment in writing Cooking Guide sections for The 'Shroom's Fake News team, I have been contemplating taking up another classic Fake News staple section as a means of experimenting with my writing for The 'Shroom. Right now, I've been contemplating taking that classic Fake News staple section for January 2026's issue, though I'm still unsure as to which particular section I should take up.
Don't you love having the urge to do another attempt at a concept for a Sonic the Hedgehog roleplay, but not having anyone to do that roleplay with, nor being able to make a solo story out of it yourself because your Sonic fanfiction writing skills Wingardium Levio-suck?
I don't mean no disrespect by saying this, but I'm honestly wondering if the forum moderators passed out today, because I put in a name change request this morning in CEST (My timezone), and it still hasn't come to be approved.

All of us have things to focus on beyond the boards, and profile renames are relatively low-priority compared to other reports. It's been approved now, but there's no need for a comment like that about us passing out

Don't worry, I do understand that forum moderators have other things to do outside the forum and that profile renames are a low-priority type of thing. And don't worry about that comment about the forum mods passing out, as I didn't mean any disrespect by it, it's more my crude sense of humor kicking in, which I understand isn't everyone's cup of tea when it comes to humor.
Man, am I glad to have the Thursday and Friday off from work because of the Feast of the Ascension on Thursday. Now I can take it easy with my parents at their place for a lenghty and extensive weekend, and hopefully forget about the stressful couple of days that I had because of the crummy weather and the morbid news I have been seeing around the internet in the last few days.
What the heck happened in the profile post area last night?

@Sparks It depends day to day, but I am dealing with mental health issues, which is part of why I regularly make profile posts about my negative mood. But I will certainly take time off for self-care if I need it. I have done so before, and I will do so again.
My mood today is going back and forth between a YouTube video of Rocky Lockridge crying and a video of the Angry Toaster Guy screaming his head off and smashing a microwave/toaster in a fit of rage.
Be sure to check out the Fake News and Palette Swap teams in today's issue of The 'Shroom! I've gotten a big slate of sections for you, with me having teamed up with everybody's favorite turquoise tabby cat for a collaboration between Cooking Guide and The Sunshine Travel Guide, and Wallace Ulysses has set out to visit a souvenir store dedicated to our favorite purple troublemaker, Waluigi in Shop Scout! But that's not all! My Mariosona and Company are going underground to take on the fourth of General Zellon's Dark Lands in Sport Report: The Movie, and Waluigi's adventures in the aftergame will be coming to a close in Passion of the WAH! - Part 2!
My spirit today is about as broken as every bone in Bonechill's undead body after Mario and Company were done with him...
I was wondering, are Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy from Spongebob loosely inspired by Batman and Robin?
Random thought I've been having lately: I don't know if I'm the only one, but I sometimes can't help but wonder if Ben Schwartz and Ben Savage are the same person, just with slightly modified appearances.
