The latter is always worse, as I speak from this as someone who's bisexual/mostly gay. Even if you're outwardly bigoted at least you're honest about it, compared with people who if they can tell you're LGBT they might not cuss you out for it but will, say, withhold criticism from an idea for a TV cartoon you have and pretend they like it more than they actually do so you won't improve and will suffer. Many people nowadays realize that they can't be quite as bigoted outwardly towards LGBT people anymore so they're that word more passive-aggressively.

Depends on the context. If there are strangers on social media that are liars, and you can't really tell, it doesn't really affect you. But if it's someone close to you and being a bad liar about it, then that's really shitty of them. Your mom seems to care more about saving face than validating you and that tells me she's quite a bit of a rotten flower.

My mom is so bad at hiding it. It's so fucking obvious to me that she uses my name around me and my dad to shut me up so I don't call her a bigot, even though she's a fucking bigot and also a creep but I won't get into that right now.

There is a difference between doing good and looking good, if someone went out of their way to hide it in any means, that most likely means they know it's wrong but don't want to change their ways and also don't want to face the consequences, it's purely cowardliness
