Could've lumped this with the Switch 2 one but I decided to separate them (tell me if I should've lumped them together or if this is a good decision. Just in case something like this happens again). Mario Kart World has of course along with the Switch 2 released a year ago and I gotta say it's solid, doesn't deserve some of the hate but still feels like a letdown considering the price and how long it's been in production for (8 years) compared to Kirby Air Riders (4 years), which is actually (somehow) better than it.

80 dollar price tag for this game is indefensible especially now we got Forza Horizon 6 which released for 70 dollars.

Yep, overpriced and a letdown. You said it.

This game only kept my interest for about a month before I stopped playing it regularly. This is probably the fastest that I've gotten bored of a Mario Kart game. 8 Deluxe and past games kept me hooked for much longer.

What were the problems?

I already talked about how much I hate what they did with the character roster in this game and that I think that this is the worst set of newcomers ever. Honestly, if they just copy-pasted Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's roster, I would've been much happier.

The number of race tracks... Maybe I've been spoiled by 8 Deluxe's massive 96 track count, but going back to 32 does seem kind of disappointing and is rather low. In 8 Deluxe you'd rarely play the same tracks twice or more in the same session because of how many there are, but in this game sometimes it feels like I keep getting the same race tracks over and over again. With less tracks, repeats are more common/likely...

Kart selection is also kind of weak imo.

As for the new gameplay mechanics, driving on walls and rail grinding are both cool. Water skiing and flying control like crap, though.
I also like the open world stuff and having the race tracks be connected to each other. I remember someone on GameFAQs described the new routes as feeling like you were on a road trip, and I agree. I honestly prefer racing with routes enabled than regular 3-lap races.

Is anyone excited for the DLC? I'm hoping they either bring in new tracks, or boost up the lame ones. I don't entirely care for more karts or characters because I usually just stick with one character/kart for the rest of my life. One new mode that would be easy to add would be a reverse mode, like what we thought mirror mode was gonna be. And maybe while we're at it, add in some variations for all the tracks. Some tracks already have variations but you can't choose to play them in a normal 3 lap race. Even better, allow us to create custom tracks by driving around like home circuit.

MK8DX definitely made us spoiled yeah. It just annoys me they milked that game for too long. If they didn't do that, I'm pretty sure we would've been satisfied with 32 (technically 30) tracks in this game

I don't have it yet...is the issue that the game is good but not worth the current price tag? Or are the issues deeper than that?

They're kinda deeper than that. I suggest watching YouTube videos on why the game is kinda a bummer
Good idea...I'll run a search now, though I'm open if anybody has suggestions for vids they found to be fair.

Most of the game's issues is that it's not worth the price tag. I found it extremely underwhelming, I wouldn't have felt the same if the game cost, say, 60 bucks. I've mentioned this earlier in the thread but the fact that Forza Horizon 6, another open world racer, just came out, has an extreme wealth of content and customization, developed with far greater resources and much bigger development budget, all for 70 dollars, really is a damning indictment on Mario Kart World.
